Thought this was funny/interesting. Despite now playing in Houston, McGrady is still proceeding with his plans to build a 43,000 square foot home in Florida, complete with "Zen room, shoe closet, movie theater and elevators -- not one, but two." It also adds: "No word where T-Mac will reside while in Texas. It's interesting, though, that his Rockets co-star, Yao Ming, lives modestly -- relatively speaking -- for a big man in the NBA. Ming's home in the Houston 'burbs has an estimated value of just over $551,000 -- and it doesn't even have a swimming pool." http://www.orlandosentinel.com/busi...,1,1817813.column?coll=orl-business-headlines
A "Zen room?" That's... facinating. Two elevators? I thought stairs were a great workout tool, lol! It must be nice to have that kinda money. Hell, it would be nice to have a small fraction of it.
That's interesting. After signing with Orlando, TMac bought the late Payne Stewart's house, complete with indoor putting green. I'm surprised he's having his own place built. As far as Houston goes, he could buy a palace with the kind of money that he's going to be making.
Vince Carter is building a home in Orlando as well. Shaq's home is in Orlando (40,000 sq ft I think). It seems to be a popular place for athletes.
These days it's more important than ever to have two elevators in your home. Me, I have three. One's a local, it stops at every floor including the gym, masseuse area, stripper lounge, brewery, pool hall, movie theater, Cristal center, backup gym, and of course the top floor, the bedroom. The second elevator is an express, it just goes straight to the bedroom. The third elevator is a service elevator, just for the help. A single elevator? Playa please.
You don't stop building a 43,000 square foot monstrosity just because you got traded. If nothing else, he can sell it once it's done.
You're right. There are plenty of scrubs around the NBA who are going to have alot of extra money coming their way this year. McGrady is from Florida though, so it's not crazy for him to have his main estate there. Did I just say 'main estate'?
They all have investment homes in all the exotic spots, plus their domestic homes. Then they lease/time-share them out so someone else can help buy it for them
Yeah yesterday on Fox 26 Local News they had a segment about many athletes residing in Texas or saying that they live in Texas so they dont' have to pay state income tax..like Kevin Bass, Rashard Lewis, Maurice Taylor, Shaq...David Carr..Nick Van Exel..and yeah It was pretty interesting. Yeah Yao isn't here most of the time..lol..it's for his parents.
i think yao's doing that right thing. it's not good for him to live austentatiously when a majority of his countryman haven't even seen a million dollar home in person.
A friend of mine owns the biggest house in Yao's neighborhood. They run a Temp Agency. I've seen Yao have to duck when he came out of his garage before. No biggie, a lot of players dont really call their Team city home, but we will win T-Mac over. He will grow to love us.
