The casino billionaire tanks enough to eventually move to Vegas where his businesses (including basketball) thrive along with his personal wealth. Sounds like a plausible plan for a greedy money driven owner.

Houston will never be without an NBA team. Vegas will come, but not at Houston's expense

the tillmen will open a second team in vegas and focus his attention there, while giving the reigns to the rox to patrick. rox will finally thrive under patrick’s leadership who learned from mauri, getting all of his strengths, but none of his weaknesses.

I doubt he'll ever leave Houston, it's easy money when the team doesn't win and he's not going to give that up.

No. Tilman, like him or not, is from Houston and has invested a lot in this city. Vegas will get a team, but it won’t be the Rockets.

If that were the plan, he would have bought a cheaper team.

UH is moving to Vegas and will merge with UNLV. They'll be the Runnin' Coubels.

OK I live in Vegas and have been a Rocket fan since the 70s, I would love to have them move here, but it won't happen.
When Paul Allen, owner of the Trailblazers, died, he said in his will that the Blazers need to be sold. The NBA came out and said that if you are to buy the Blazers with a plan to move them...Vegas and Seattle are off limits because they are the cities slated for expansion. So the Rockets are going to stay in Houston and Vegas is getting a new team.

The NBA talent pool is becoming too large. Players who would have been good enough for the NBA before are now regulated to the g league or playing overseas.

I think the league is done with relocations for a while. If a team is going to Vegas it would be from an expansion.

If Tillman had interest in moving the Rockets to Vegas I would have thought that he would have been more strategic with the T-Mobile arena promenade and change of ownership/renovation of Park MGM (formerly Monte Carlo). I assume the Vegas team will be playing at the T-Mobile arena when they get a team. Tillman's property now (Freemont/Golden Nugget) and his future property (I think it's supposed to be a Post Oak/Texas themed resort) are nowhere near that zone of the strip which is sandwiched between two MGM properties.

I think that's a pretty good indication that Tillman might not be able to capitalize on a move to Vegas in the way one might think. I don't see much for him to gain, and the Vegas team will likely be the most expensive team ever acquired.

There's no need to move any team anywhere. The goal is to have 32 teams. Vegas and Seattle are getting teams without anyone losing one. That said, once Vegas gets a team I'm signing up for season tickets form the get go.
