Honestly isn't that special. Bruno would've gone between the legs twice and windmilled off the backboard.
He’s getting better at a two foot take off. From a move, he’s an above average leaper. From two feet or short are movement he’s not as explosive, or hasn’t been anyway. You can see he’s working on explosion, quicker feet and strength training. This will unlock a lot for him. @maj21 is this athletic?
Offensively he's grown quite a bit and is quickly becoming a powerhouse. Defensively, he's still got some work to do. I think he would have gotten more PT if they figure out how to set him up so he's not closing out on guards and not having to be the guy that picks up a guard going downhill. Or at least find a way to mask him on defense a bit better
He’s athletic in comparison to players like him. I will give him a 5 on a scale of 1-10, which is better than what I had him before. When think of athletic centers, I think young Dwight who was a great athlete, then there’s guys like Capela who I consider a good athlete.
Dwight and Capela are two of the most athletic centers in the game in their prime. Specially Dwight. If that’s the standard then there aren’t many athletic centers in the league. Alp is never going to be on their level, but he’s still an above average NBA athlete-slightly. Not the “dud” people claim him to be athletically
I see what you’re saying bc I noticed that in his breakdown with Mike Schmitz before the draft. He’s way more athletic than you’d think. I’ll call him an underrated athlete, but can’t go beyond that.
You have to be decently athletic to come off a spin and dunk from almost flat footed outside the circle. The total package of athleticism on display there is pretty good, very quick spin, fluid and graceful, and the ability to dunk out of it. That level of quick footwork needs to translate on D more often. There are glimpses but then some lowlights
Not at 6’10” he barely has to jump to dunk that. I can agree with you that. I’m mainly thinking jumping and lateral quickness. I can give you slightly above average with his fluidity and coordination. A lot of really athletic centers look clumsy out there bc they don’t have his skill and footwork. So I’ll give him a 6, can we agree on that?
6 is probably where he’s at. 34-35” vert is solid though. Also, that’s where we disagree. Athleticism is a lot more than jumping and side to side movement. Coordination, fluidity, short area quickness are all super important factors
