I was responding to the All NBA team thread, but I think it is interesting discussion.

Nope. It is 2G2F1C in the voters' ticket. Unless each voter exercises self discretion, 2 SG can be selected by 1 voter.

And I agree with Hotshotrbs, Jason Kidd should be out of 1st team. Enough of these players who have good stats, but cannot bring the team to another level. You only need a Kidd if you don't have players like Kobe. What I mean is Kidd is good, for a team without good players. You can find a number of players like Jason Kidd in some European countries, but you won't find another Kobe, Duncan or Shaq.

A Dream team list that could make US lose the gold medal in the next international competition:

    Jason Kidd
    Allen Iverson
    David Robinson
    Kevin Garnnet
    Karl Malone

AI is great, but the rules of international basketball will not help a short guy who can't jump shoot too well. JK isn't smarter than the top guards in Europe, except being stronger. KG looks good, but not better than Toni Kukoc at his peak, if he insists on playing like a small forward. Robinson was bullied by Sabonis in 88 and always sinks faithfully with his ship. Karla? He must be there if there is ever a Dream Team that loses a game. I will get him out of retirement to share the historical moment if necessary.

No disrespect for NBA players, but Dream Teams are getting weakers, partly because we no longer send animals like Shaq, Chamberlein or even McGrady to the big stage. (I am not saying McGrady will not be in the next Dream team; I mean we need more atheletic plaers like him to out perform the international teams who train equally hard.)

I disagree - you underrate Kidd, and you severly underrate Garnett.

Toni Kukoc never played defense like Garnett does, and wasn't nearly as athletic.

Well...notice not 1 player on the 2000 dream team had any tats. It ain't a coincidence, dude. I'm not so sure about AI.

Well, in Garnett's last Dream team appearance, all I can say is "unimpressive". Toni Kukoc in one international game (I think it is World Cup, against anothe strong team) in Europe made 11 consecutive 3-pt shots before missing the 12th, and he is not the best European forward. I never said Kukoc played like Garnett, I mean Garnet won't contribute much more than a well-shooting Eurapoean well-fed tall white guy can do, under the international rule.

Some of the players in the list have to underperform for them to lose ONE game. But I sure see this bunch having a greater chance of losing than the other combination of the members of this years' All-NBA team, or any of the previous Dream teams.
