    coach? no.

gm? I don't think I have the people skills to deal with the gms, players, and agents, esp with all the ego stroking that likely goes on.

But I know I could manage the salary cap a lot better than a lot of the clowns in the nba seem incapable of doing. I know a bad contract when I see one, and yes, that includes you Mr. Brian "the janitor" Cardinal.

On second thought, after so many years of playing Play Station I think I would make one hell of a coach and GM.

The general perception is NO. But when you see a team like the Clippers, you cannot help but say to yourself, how could someone be dumber than Baylor ever been?

GM or director of personnel? GM or scouting director? GM or president of basketball operations? GM or Coach?

How many of these titles presently are used on the Rox, as well as every other NBA team?

The answer is as apparent as Yes, I could and should be GM. Uh huh. OK, at least I would be more honest than Hockey Guy, better than Layden, less arrogant and rash than Isiah...

It's called fantasy for a reason. Real life teams need a thing called chemistry, not just a truckload of stats.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't JVG the one we were blaming for not saving timeouts for crucial moments in the game? Wasn't he also the one many blamed for being unable to adjust his system/matchups?

Why not? I'm a sharp enough guy. If I were given the same opportunities as the current batch of coaches and GM's I could be at least the 14th best coach or GM in the league.
If I had the pituitary glands that would get me to 6-8, I would have worked on my jumper and I would have stuck with the same team for 12 years, then gone from scout to assistant coach to head coach with final say on roster moves.

What's really funny is that if you question the move, you're obviously wrong because Jerry West made it and you can't possibly know as much as Jerry West or any other professional GM.

We really need the "Real man of genius" (Radio610 version) as the background music for this thread.

    Any Coach? no

    Average GM? no

    Some GMs? yes

I think it's safe to say that the average poster on this BBS knows more than a guy like Scott Layden. :p

Yup. I don't really get this "golden touch" track record West has though. Other than his hiring of Hubie and the Bonzi trade, all his moves with the Grizz have been mediocre at best, imo.

IF I had a room full of aelliots, NIKEstrads, and GATERs , yeah, you bet.

Give me the job and I'd have a bad-ass staff; AND I'd be smart enough to do what they said. Too many league GM's are proud go-it-alone guys. Pat Riley has made some horrrrrrible decisions since he made himself king. You know people told him not to do it.

Well, I don't think my $h#! is rose-scented, so I'd have a leg up on the smug and the incompetent. I'd also have my team working all the time, instead of Waiting for the Phone to Ring. Ugh. Can't stand that.

I think the secret to success is not doing what you want, but what's right.

I get this crap on the board all the time.

Why are you so hard on Rockets management? You're always questioning them.

Even if I list 5 screwups for every 1 right manuever and logically tie that correct manuever to blind luck, people still believe that just because you are a "professional" GM, you must be right.

This is why professional "GM"s do not tenure. Tariq Abdul Wahad is grateful for these "professionals".

Am I better than GMs like Paxson and Layden? Not sure I can't do better than them.

I just put yes for fun. :) I WISH I could be a GM..just involved..participant. :) I would explore many possibilities...try to make things happen..and listen to advice...stuff like that. I would go to every game and talk to everyone. :) I think CD is doin a good job though..I wish I could do his job. :p
