    Achebe/Crispee,
We will be playing this with a real fine line.

I think crispee's timing is correct:
    • Sign Hakeem
    • Renounce SA
    • Sign Mo T
    • sign SA with the MCE
    • Sign Mooch, Bull and Langhi

About a mil within the MCE loss range

Early Bird and MCE are essentially the same. The only difference is that Early Bird can be for *less*, whereass MCE is for average pay, no more, no less. Shandon wouldn't care either way

The Mid Level exception can be split up. That's what many teams are doing this year. Due to the luxury tax, they are reluctant to give the entire mid-level excption to only one player. Orlando divided their $4.5M exception between Ewing and Grant.

    True Market Value.....

Let's see now, Patrick Ewing played 79 games last yr averaging 9.6pts and 7.4rbs.

Hakeem Olajuwon played 58 games averaging 11.9pts and 7.4rbs.

Ewing just signed w/ the Magic for $2.25M...

The math should not be all that difficult for the Rockets braintrust.

    pippen,

Antonio Davis only averaged 13.7 and 10.1 with a 43% fg while playing more minutes in the East. He got the max. Dream is worth whatever we or Toronto is willing to give. The Question is about opportunity costs. Are we better with him or without him the next two years. Are there any players available the next two years that we can get that will make us better than we are with Dream. I think the answer is to the first question is that we are better with Dream and the second question is a definite no. I think we are going after Duncan in a few years.

pippen, don't you realize that TMV isn't what you calculate it out to be... it's what people will actually pay. Anything you can argue is MOOT b/c they're is a team willing to steal Dream.

You can't convince Dream to take less just b/c of your math. He's sitting staring at an offer. He'll laugh at your math.
