Really nothing about his form suggests he can't be a good shooter. It's pretty smooth for someone who isn't considered a shooter. I think with enough confidence and attempts over time he'll be at least competent enough that bigs can't just play off him when he's at the perimeter. The two man game between Green and Sengun becomes significantly deadlier also because defenses really have nothing to give up any more because both become capable shooters and capable finishers attacking the rim.
nothing personal dear buddy chowd but F**** 3 point shooting! if yanis could do it without 3pt shot... alpi can do it as well if cp3 could beat lebron and ad on injured hand not shooting 3 pters AT ALL.. than alpi can do it...and alpi is cp3 of big people it can be done without 3pt shot.. but it cant be done without playing time and having your coach for an enemy...
For the past two games my eyes told me that the rockets looked competitive while Sengun was in the game and complete mess when he was out, decided to do some math and see if the numbers backed up my eye test. Here's what I came up with - Game1 vs Denver: Team Offensive rating with Alp in the game: 143.8 Team Defensive rating with Alp in the game: 136.7 Team Net rating with Alp: +7.1 Team Offensive rating without Alp in the game: 90.7 Team Defensive rating without Alp in the game: 129.5 Team Net rating without Alp: -38.8 Game2 vs Denver: Team Offensive rating with Alp in the game: 119.0 Team Defensive rating with Alp in the game: 123.7 Team Net rating with Alp: -4.8 Team Offensive rating without Alp in the game: 86.1 Team Defensive rating without Alp in the game: 134.1 Team Net rating without Alp: -48.0 Disclaimer: I calculated the stats on the non Sengun minutes myself, so I could have messed it up. If these numbers are available somewhere that yall know of please send me a link.
Watched Vasilije Micic today and thought how much he would help to the Rockets and to Alpi as a facilitator. 18 points/9 rebs/9 assists in a hard FIBA game. His rights belongs to OKC, Stone should find a way to convince Sam Presti to trade him. He plays for circa $5M+Fringe Benefits (should be around $8M US equivalent) and will be cheap (?) in NBA standards.
Sengun learned from Moses Malone how to pad your rebounding stat by intentionally missing point blank shots.
He could be our most impactful player if we ran a different system. We run a guard-focused PNR/Iso system, which he will never excel in if it's the main system. Imagining him in a system that utilizes off-ball movement is scary exciting. Or a system that allows a big to act as the main playmaker on certain sets.
Definitely, the other day someone posted a video of his passes, and how his passing is underutilized. Sadly, all the passes were to 3 pt shooters. this is just the tip of the iceberg. With ball movement, more screens and more cutters, Sengun would be scary good. It is amazing how limited Silas is with his offense (and defense is non-existent anyway).
