"From what I am hearing, the Rockets are feverishly trying to trade the TE and a #1 draft pick to Seattle for Antonio Daniels." He also said the deal could be done within 48 hours and a snag could be the inclusion of the draft pick.

Please merge this if it is not deemed worthy of a new thread.

Add a #1? Ugh. Why do the Rockets keep giving these things away?

    Ugh. a 1st rounder??

Id love to have Daniels, but not at that price.

EDIT: I might reconsider, as long as there was protection. Say.........top 20 protection for 2 years, and after that 2 2nd rounders.

Daniels is our best option. I'm all for throwing in the #1.

The Rockets already have two #15 picks sitting at the end of their bench. They don't need another end-of-the-bench player with maybe a 10% chance of making the rotation.

Maybe it is a way to entice them to give up someone else on their roster? I would think Seattle would love getting the TE & a pick in exchange for Daniels and Daniels' contract certainly doesn't equal the TE.

Maybe they are really trying to go after a big guy like we all thought and hoped.

the rockets future first rounders will theoretically be anywhwere from 25-30.

i dont think its that much of a loss.

trade the TE and a future first for AD and a future 2nd.

i dont think theres much difference between a late first and an early 2nd, aside from contractual obligations.

Isn't JVG's rep that he doesn't play rookies anyway? Daniel's contract makes this too attractive to pass up. I'm surprised Seattle wants Fisher, if true.

I think there would have to be more to the deal than that. (or less!) I don't think we'd deal a first just for him, either. Unless CD and JVG think Daniels has untapped potential he hasn't shown yet. thacabbage and others don't think there's a lot of it there to untap, lol! He's just a good fit at a cheap contract. I think there's got to be more to the deal.

Yeah yeah yeah, a late first rounder rarely pans out.

But sometimes they do pan out, and it would be nice to take a pull on that first round slot machine.

    agreed.

what good is a 20-30 pick anyways? they rarely pan out into anything more than bench fodder. not much of a loss if you ask me.... although it would be nice if seattle threw in a little somethin-somethin our way, maybe a 2nd rounder. that'd work.

We should get back Seattle's 2nd round pick.

Although a nice player, this seems like too much for daniels. Isn't this what we offered for Barry???

Or if that 1st rounder is protected, like top 20 (see my edit).

Since we will still have the full MLE for players like Swift, Dampier, or big center; I don't mind getting a tall PG that is defensive minded.

    Let's see..

    Daniels - 6'4"
    McGrady - 6'8"
    JJ - 6'6"
    Swift (please) - 6'9", Dampier 6'11"
    Yao - 7'6"

With no one under 6'4" it will create so many miss-matches it won't be funny. Instead of the twin towers, we'll have the whole freak'n wall of China.

Isn't the TE for like $6 mil. and Daniels only makes a little over $2 mil.?

There has to one or two other players involved coming back this way. This way Seattle can clear up cap room and roster slots for Fisher and whoever else they are targeting this offseason.

would you trade the TE (which actually requires the Rox to take on a bad contract via trade) AND...

    Roderick Rhodes ?! (a Rocket's 1st rounder)

let me put it another way

with all the guarenteed money now for rookies.,, and the influx of high school and overseas players - the picks are not as important as they were (unles you are getting a top 5 - which the Rox hopefully will not have for a while)
