Great stat- he makes this lineup truly deadly because he can hit elite pitching and that is what wins playoff games.
On a 3 year deal I think he spends around 1 1/2 years at first and DH's for the rest of his time. His defense is not at the level the Astros have become accustomed to.
I'm just referring to the 2023 projections that Snake posted. If we added those projections to the 2022 lineup then it would be like Yuli didn't regress
If the team does sign another catcher I believe it will be a stash in Sugar Land type to utilize in case of an emergency.
Reading Yankee Reddit responses. It’s glorious. Like full on Yankee fans questioning why they should even invest in the season when they know the ending of the movie already. Good stuff.
For all of Jose Abreu's "troubles" against the four-seamer, he hit over .300 and was the 3-hole hitter on a team that also had Tim Anderson, Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez. He also had some one of the highest exit velocities in the league and also one of the highest expected batting averages. He can rake. I also expect improved performance when playing on a contender. Iron sharpens iron.
Well technically it was LF/DH we had the problem with. Yuli played for what seemed like 364 straight games this past season at first base.
I would be happy with Yuli on a cheap contract for that. I am optimistic that with more rest, he will be closer to his playoff performance than his regular season performance.
