It was mentioned in another thread that was somewhat about a different topic, but you probably are the first with a thread specific about it.

    Alief?

    Maybe Yes, Maybe No.

At the moment, lean towards the No.

Power outage at 10:30 Am. City. Notifies everyone at 7:30pm. City also admits they have backup power generators at the facility but “they are not set to turn on automatically”

    bravo Houston.

Perhaps food service such as restaurants will be impacted.

Mother****ers. It’s all of Harris county. Now I have to drain both of my refrigerators. What a massive PITA.

Probably should be, but my guess is restaurants will continue to slang food prepped with the dirty water.

Heard HEB is stocking extra bottled water though.

Office sent out notice to work from home today if possible. Thank god I was willing to risk being an hour late for work waiting for that e-mail.

Its not an issue until the water pressure drops below a specific threshold. It probably took several hours for the pressure to drop below the threshold that requires a boil notice.

Oh great, I avoided the thanksgiving holiday weekend shopping bonanza so I can do it on a Monday when all these rugrats are in school. I can’t stand packed grocery stores, idiots everywhere

This is why it's always important to keep a supply of potable water handy.

Drain your water dispenser, let it fill back up, drain it again.

Toss all of the ice, let the ice maker make more, toss it again.

So having backup generators but not having them hooked up or wired to automatically turn on in a power outage for a water system responsible for supplying millions of people is acceptable? Ineptness on the magnitude of Ercot in my opinion as this is simple risk management of critical infrastructure.
