I can't speak for everyone on the Left, though I count myself among them, but I don't think it's quite as simple as "MAGA caused this to happen". I'm not convinced that DePape is MAGA or even supported Trump. He might even count himself among the Left on various issues, but I doubt it is those issues which compelled him to break into Pelosi's home making violent threats. I think that he became consumed by the sort of conspiracy theories online which have been boosted mostly by people who hate the Left.

As far as which side has more responsibility, I'd think about it in terms of the following question. Would both political parties be equally agreeable to putting out an official statement denouncing the conspiracy theories that DePape believed in and motivated him to attack Pelosi?

I can respect your viewpoint, @durvasa. It's a lot more nuanced than what many have expressed here.

No, your legitimacy is lost when you ignore facts and prematurely try to declare him as being motivated by MAGA, contrary to what law enforcement said and what many facts and the statements by the mother of his children and his entire life history point towards.

Then again, your legitimacy was limited to begin with. You are a highly biased, very far left activist.

Didn't you like a couple of years ago spam #walkaway content? Or was that another poster? So is that all fake?

Your entire premise about Pelosi's attacker being a leftist contradicts on your other premise that there is a plethora of left wing people who are leaving because of "wokeness"

Damn, it's almost like once someone starts going down those algorithmic right wing media content bubbles, they become radicalized.

Probably. Maybe. Hard to predict an unstable mind but DePape's bizarre behavior stretches further back than the election and Pelosi had little to do with it other than being Speaker of the House.

    Are we suggesting censorship?

And how long did you interview him?! There aren't too many Republican fans of Nancy Pelosi. Are you suggesting censorship?

I brought this up earlier but there is overlap as beliefs such as antivax started in the Left and now have become mainstays on the Right. I certainly find it possible for DePape to simultaneously hold beliefs that are considered Leftist but also be influenced by QAnaon.

We know which groups suggest that she and Democrats hate and are a threat to the country, running child sex rings, etc.

That's the difference. Many people can criticize other politicians.

And it isn't that Trump or all of his supporters say that. But those that don't say it, tolerate those that do.

Censorship? Not at all. Just don't spew bullshit. Too many idiots in this country believe it.
The USA would be in a much better political place had Trump conceded and not continually lied over the past 2 years. More than likely, January 6th doesn't occur. More than likely, Republicans have a bigger advantage in the house and win the Senate. More than likely, Trump is a more electable candidate in 2024.

He is such a narcissistic b****, however, that he continually shoots himself in the foot

It isn't difficult. He was asked why he did it. His answer was...
    https://news.yahoo.com/david-depape-planned-break-nancy-114502872.html

Those were his words. I've noticed that they aren't too far off from the words used by certain posters in this thread.
