    USA unquestionably outplayed Wales

Tim Ream committed an atrocious penalty, he can’t be on the field after something like that.

Ref was incredibly bad, inconsistent all over the place

The midfield is fantastic, best of all time

Someone else needs to be taking corners

    Fair result.
It was there to be won but this team just doesn't have enough presence up top.

wales likely facing a qualified england in the 3rd game
might all come down to how many goals you can score against iran

That wasn't Ream. Ream played a great match.

This isn't a surprising a result for a team that's this inexperienced at the World Cup. It's frustrating that we gave up that terrible penalty and the ref was absolutely atrocious. Now we have to play the goal differential game. I'm not sure this team is disciplined enough to 1. keep England from routing us and 2. pouring it on against Iran when we'll need however many goals to advance.

Who is the bum who tackled Bale from behind? Cost the US the points there. I liked what I saw that first half and then the US decided it would attempt more turtling. Thought Pulisic was "ok." Great pass to setup Weah, but other then that, felt he was poor with his set kicks and passing on the fringe of the box other then that one good play.

Adams was the Player of the Match.

The good news is that Wales will get to play them first so the US should have a good idea on what they need to do.

Maybe England won't take it easy on Wales considering the relationship between those two countries.

This is insane. This seems to be a reoccurring theme with this team. We have to have players willing to take shots when they get a chance. I can't stand when a players has the ball in the middle of the field and plays it wide. Rarely ever works out for the US. Play through balls up the middle. I get why we aren't that aggressive but we have to be more aggressive than this.

That was Zimmerman - and by the time he committed to the ground Bale wasn't around he smartly cut in front - more unlucky - probably shouldn't go to ground.

Agree we need Pulisic at the top of the box to pick up the trash on corners.

Good news England has NEVER beaten the USA in the World Cup.

    We are

    1W - 2D - 0L all time against them in the WC.

That would be Zimmerman that committed that foul. I know he's won DPOY or whatever, but I've always considered him our shakiest defender for some reason. Overall it was an ok result from a game they could've gotten more, but that's what happens when you have such a young, inexperienced roster and a coach that doesn't exactly exude that killer instinct.

Historic records don't mean anything in this context.

Ok, 59% of teams that draw the first match qualify for the knockout stages.

Much more relevant than when we beat England in 1950

Especially when the English national team hasn't looked this good in a World Cup since Gareth Southgate was playing on it.

Poor Sterling. I long thought his running gait reminded me of a certain character in Revenge of the Nerds, but I think it's amazing such a tiny little guy is such a phenomenal athlete.

He's also apparently still with his high school girlfriend, and has two kids with her, so I'd say it's all working out for him ok.
