I'm not real sure either. Being a complete newbie to voting (eligible to vote as of this July 19th), I'm not quite sure who to place the vote for either. Being a Texan alone would of let me to vote (if I could have) in the 2000 election for Bush. I see now though that loyalty only can take one so far before they realise their president has made a few mistakes (just generalizing, I know it's more than a FEW lol). I despise Kerry and like many feel this war in Iraq was a careless mistake due to lack of intelligence on the advisors and staff of George W. Bush and the CIA. I'll have to do my homework between now and November to find out where I stand. -iso
Great Iraq quote from this site: It is my firm belief that Bush and Co. acted on this internationally significant issue with haste, arrogance, and a “17-year-old-in-a-Camaro” machismo that is not only unbecoming of the leader of the free world, but inappropriate to the point of being tremendously dangerous.
Loyalty to your home state should mean nothing. Consider the candidates. Consider the current state of the country. Consider the future direction proposed by the candidate. Make a decision. The one thing worse than an apathetic citizen is an uninformed citizen.
That's a pretty strong statement. Any particular reasons why? I wouldn't even say that I despise Bush. His policies are another thing...
When comparing the respective depths of your political analysis and your musical output, your analysis suffers.
I don't get hangovers. I have an iron stomach. Kerry has a chance to rebuild America's reputation around the world, rather than ruining it even further, as Bush will do if he gets his dictatorship- I mean, second term. I know most Americans don't give a **** about what the rest of the world thinks, but believe me, it is important. There are millions of reasons why Kerry would rescue this country from the neo-conservative, totalitarian path it's on at the moment. If you can't see them, then you are clearly blinded by Dubuyuh love.
Honestly, even though I consider myself left-leaning, I don't know who my vote is going to in this (my first that I'm eligible to vote in) election. They're both, IMO, mediocre at best. My friends are major Bush supporters, but my gut feeling tells me it's because he's from Texas. Is there any website that has unbiased comparisons of their policies? If so I'd like a link.
If you go to MSNBC or CNN and look at their respective tables of info, you'll get a good idea. If you want to hear directly from the horse's mouth, go to each candidate's website and look at issues. That way, you should get equal BS from both sides, allowing you to get a feel for what you like. Every site ultimately has some sort of bias. The only way you can get no bias is by looking at their voting records (what Bush has supported as leader of his party and President and what he has pushed for and neglected), while what Kerry has voted for and against while in Congress).
