Hey, I was actually thinking about switching from tmobile to nextel. Hows their service? Do calls drop often? Also, anyone been out of the country with a nextel. Let me know the Pros and Cons on this company. Also, if anyone has the new motorola i830, let me know cause thats the phone im looking at. thanks
I have been a Nextel customer for 4 years and I have never had any problems. Currently I have the i730 and the phone has been great. I use the direct connect feature a lot for work and it always works well. There are some pockets where you will get poor connection but there are not many that I have found. It might not be worth it if you do not use the direct connect feature because the higher minute packages are pretty expensive. I have not left the state ot country since they went to the nation wide direct connect. Went to vegas a few times before that and the phone worked fine.
if you're only wanting service (ie- not the direct connect feature), then I would skip nextel. They have one of the smallest networks and due to them having a different cell tech (CDMA/GMS), it will be impossible to roam off their network. Minutes per package are also much higher. Once again, always go with the provider who has the best coverage in your usual calling locations regardless.
I also own the i730, and my entire family uses Nextel. With the exception of this past month where there were some issues with the tower in our area, our service has been more than acceptable. And speaking of the nation-wide direct connect, my parents just got back to Houston from a trip to Canada, and the quality was awesome when they would beep me all the way from Quebec. I would recommend it, especially if you are intending on using the direct connect feature. Nextel is a good phone for businesses, especially; it's a "business-oriented" phone, if you ask me...
I tried to get a Nextel phone a few weeks ago. It was like I was applying for a $300,000 home loan or something. I finally got tired of all their "verifying" and left. Unfortunately, Im still stuck with Cingular, who just took over AT&T, who I had went with because I was tired off Cingluar. Its like the Seinfeld episode ......Cindo De Mayo ...and Punto Mayo.................
I have to deal with cell phones at work, and I HATE cell phone companies. That said, I think Tmobile is easily the best to deal with.
ANY MORE OPINIONS? IM STILL CONSIDERING THIS PHONE. JUST HEARD ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THEIR SPOTTY RECEPTION
I just got the i830 yesterday. I work downtown, and I go around the tunnel system quite a bit. So far today (yeah, I know... just a day), the reception has been much better than my Sprint ever was... on both the direct-connect and regular service.
Yeah, The one thing i miss most about Tmobile is their customer service. Their customer serivce is the best among all the companies I have dealth with. (at&t, verizon, sprint) But Tmobile's service was kinda weak. Go with Verizon. Best service, and decent prices
