There's a difference between gender dysmorphia and having some kind of mental issue like this person has.

Not any more than being gay is considered a mental illness.

This seems to be more closely related to gender dysphoria than homosexuality, at least on the surface. The treatment for people who suffer from this — in some cases amputation to relieve the mental discomfort they are feeling — does remind me of surgical treatments to help with gender dysphoria.

I don’t think this delegitimizes all trans people and what they are going through. One question — do people who have this mental disorder report having this feeling from a very, very young age? If not — that’s a crucial difference.

Solving this Norwegian catastrophe will definitely solve inflation in the United States and solve our border issues. So glad I voted Republican.

It's probable that there is a biological process - one that is either mutation based or environmental in the womb - that is behind gender dysphoria. I think in a few years that link will be more clear.

That described my mother in law who was in no way, shape or form anywhere close to being obese or lazy. She may have weighed 110 pounds. But.... she had a propensity to fall. She walked slow and going downhill on those plane ramps were a risk factor. We'd also wheel her around at a zoo or amusement park because it was faster, but we wouldn't take advantage and skip the line. While there are certainly obese folks who need it, there are plenty of non obese folks that have underlying non-obvious health issues.

In this particular instance, it seems clear the person has a mental issue. If being in a wheelchair (which doesn't impact anyone) helps her cope with and get through life, what's the harm?

Yes, I wouldn't judge them, I just noticed that there are A LOT more people using these wheelchairs at planes in the US than in Europe or Asia.

Hopefully DeSantis can come up with some new nanny state legislation to combat this issue…

… obviously we will need several House Republican investigations into the matter.

I think Americans are used to it. Plus there's an off chance they end up in the same plus sized shoes as a hulking fatty.

Might be a legal issue as well? If you refuse assistance to an old lady and she collapses because you refused her a scooter, at the very least that sparks litigation worries.

Refusing a morbidly obese person who has to stand or wait for hours at Disneyland or airport fits the same rationale with possible elements of discrimination against disabled.

People used to **** all over litigiousness. Now we just angle to see what category we benefit from...

    Git yers while it's good.
