I like them a lot from the rear. And you're right, a nice one really is a good looking car. Although... I like a Z06 or ZR1 C6 more.
Look, now. The Vette is a fine machine, very fine. If someone gave me a Vette, I would shake their hand, put on my USAF cap, then drive ten MPH under the speed limit while I take them for a beer or three at Hooters where we could ogle some young ladies who are the same age as my grandkids. Then we would drive down i45 going 45mph to the Seawall in Galveston, park and stand next to the car for a bit before we needed to get home in time for dinner at 4PM.
Z06 or ZR1, absolutely!! This video I time stamped is worth watching for a minute where he finally pushes it:
I didn’t know the vette was an old man’s car. Interesting. The old ones are sweet, the new one looks like it’s trying too hard. The only dude I know who has one, actually has 2, is mid 70s and a stone cold trump supporter. He wears the corvette cap. No joke.
Good luck buying a Corvette -- you have to have 'a guy' otherwise you'll never find one that's nice and priced reasonably.
A neighbor of mine, lived with his parents around 20ish when I was a kid in the early 80s, had a grey early-70s Vette in their garage that he swore he was "working on". He'd fire it up every weekend and fiddle with things. I think I saw it on the road 2 or 3 times. Around 2005, a good friend of mine's father, at the age of 70-something, randomly bought a yellow Vette with an automatic transmission. Thus is the dichotomy of the Vette.
Man!!! Yeah, if I actually get one it's going to probably be a project car... I might even be willing to combine salvage titles, but if I went that crazy of a route I'll probably go 911, or it'd definitely have to be Z06/ZR1. That's the way to drive a Vette! Haha
I got an alert for a 1990 with 15,000 miles that spent most of it's time sitting in a dealership showroom -- absolutely gem mint ten condition and priced right about where it should be (about 23,000). I couldn't believe it and I got the alert about an hour after it posted... Sold basically a few minutes after posting -- womp womp. This ended my half assed attempt at buying a Corvette -- my unicorn was a 96 GS.
Ah man!!! That's crazy good miles too! The 96 GS! Man, if you can get lucky and find one mint that would be amazing!
