This is where I miss a guy like Morey, since he would be able to turn 4 quarters into a dollar consistently (and often 3 quarters into a dollar), we have a lot of guys on this roster that are not getting time and not being utilized, but we are also not showing their potential value either. If Jabari came out of the gate hot, or if he starts to improve by the time Luka hypothetically became available, I would be open to him maybe being a centerpiece of a trade and keeping more of the Brooklyn assets. I see Morey's weaknesses now that he is gone, he has a bit of tunnel vision with his guys, but I think in this type of scenario having a guy who can wheel and deal would be incredible.

I wouldn't be surprised if he left Dallas. They're wasting his prime.

Only way you go above 0% chance that Luka would want to come to Houston is if Wemby is here and is the real legit deal from day 1 as he likely will be. Cuban would probably be super hesitant to have anything to do with a Houston deal, and we would have to deal all our top prospects and kpj and future picks and that basically leaves you with a big 2 surrounded by a crummy roster just like the good ole Yao/T-Mac era. Big 2 with scrubs couldn't cut it then and it aint cutting it today.
Otherwise if you do have Wemby to entice Luka and Cuban refuses, you have to wait until 2027 at the earliest and Luka says he's out after that season. Cuban loses all leverage, but by then hopefully Green, Bari, Tari, Alpy are all hitting their prime and Wemby is already a monster star for 3 seasons by then. Then you wonder if the deal makes any more sense unless the Rockets even with Wemby for 3 seasons can't get out of the first round or are a complete failure. Then i could see a big swing.

I should say i don't see any of this ever happening with or without Wemby. Luka strikes me as a big city cocky guy perfectly made for the Knicks.

Luka is around the 3rd most valuable trade asset in the league below probably just Giannis and Jokic. Something like Green + Sengun + Smith + Tari + all our picks + bkn picks probably still isn't enough. Until he's on an expiring contract and publicly saying he wants out, there's no way Dallas even entertains any offers.

It seem, as evidenced by our Slovenian friends and our own forum, that fans believe they have more of a say in things, than they actually do.

Luka is from Madrid. He will bail to Miami or Boston first given chance. He has no business to stay in dallas

The stupidity on this forum is sometimes astounding.

Luka consistently leads his poorly put together team to the playoffs and wins games/series they have no business winning.

As soon as Harden left the Rockets, they are immediately the worst team in the league for three years straight.

    Winning basketball over here lmao

Yes yes the old "this forum is full of idiots because I don't agree with my understanding of a post".

This conversation already has more posts than Luka and Harden do rings.

Harden was an elite regular season workhorse. Indeed. Indeed. With Chris Paul we had the right yin and yang to win. Then along came a hamstring. And then along came Tilman.

Cubes will sell the team before he agrees to trade Luka. I think they’ll be trying to make some trades soon though.

I don't see a trade that works today because the Rockets are over the cap but come the offseason when te rockets have nearly $70m in cap space they can take Luka directly into cap space instead of having to match salary.

In that case, you can keep the players you want to keep and compensate Dallas with draft picks, be that your own picks, Brooklyn picks or some combination of both.

I almost expect the Rockets to make a play for a big name player this offseason thru a trade, mainly because there aren't many quality players in FA and they know they cant be bad next year .... or else.

lol what is this soccer culture being pasted on the NBA?

The Mavs realized their cap is destroyed and they would only be able to roll over Porzingis into a slightly better player and that's if they gave up a bunch of picks. They told Doncic to take a chill pill and give them 2 years to re-tool. They're replenishing their pick haul and will patiently wait to pounce on a second star like Lillard or Durant. They're not going to try to make small upgrades using their picks, they're not going to take on bad contracts. He understands it, they understand it.

Basketball is not soccer you're not just trying to compile as many good players are possible, you're trying to lock in a great roster under the cap for a championship window that doesn't stay open forever and that's not possible when you have a bunch of underperforming contracts. All their big contracts after Luka are descending annually or partially guaranteed or team option. They know exactly what they're doing by keeping these flexible assets while their pick stash is replenished.

So stupid. Luka LOVES the Mavs and he LOVES Cuban and he seems to LOVE Kidd. Cuban treats that guy like a god. That marriage is not going ending any time soon.

Slovenian fans don't understand the NBA if this is what they think is going to happen.

Luka is the next big thing. All NBA marketing and management is Luka only fans. He is only 23 (someone here called him veteran), and NBA will get this guy a few championships whether it is with Dallas or another team. Luka was playing Euro MVP level at age 17-18 at Euroleague (where as Wemby is hiding in 2nd French league playing with kids at that same age). I hope he doesn't end up like Dirk, and trades somewhere to make a good team. Why not Houston..
