My Twitter feed is a wreck tonight and it doesn't look like the bird will be flying for long. I'm on Mastodon, but it seems to be a stop gap measure. Any other options that look good for the long-term?
I've seen literally no difference except people complaining that they are going to Mastodon. Can always outsource to India on the cheap.
I imagine it will keep running fine in the short term, but will be very vulnerable to a cyber attack. A majority of the work force disgruntled and either let go or quit, and likely most of the infosec team gone as well. Actually could get very interesting.
I use Twitter enough to know what it is and why it's been such a big deal. There's good stuff there about things that interest me from time to time, but my "participation" consists primarily of reading what i just mentioned, and perhaps "liking" things I've enjoyed or agree with. Like you, ClutchFans is my only social media outlet worth mentioning. I'm connected with the "outside world," however, inhaling news and information from numerous sources. That used to be a hell of a lot easier. Most of the best things are behind paywalls these days. Bummer.
Honestly, I think it's better than what it would have been if I were as addicted to Twitter as I am to CF
The key to Twitter is to find accounts you want to follow and try to ignore 99% of the comments/bots/oddities that respond -- fight the urge to respond or scroll down sometimes if you have to. lol. I think I've been on there since 2008 or 2009 and haven't sent out a Tweet or a like yet. I just use it as a "breaking news source". I really don't care about Facebook, Instagram, Snap, etc., but I love Twitter and Reddit.
Heard rumors Elon Musk is looking to purchase cf.net for the lulz. No comment yet from Clutch, so something big must be happening.
