So let's say Leslie Alexander was always going to do that rebrand, probably because we had the same logo and jerseys for ages and wanted to put his stamp on the new team. In theory, makes a lot of sense, I would've done it ASAP once I took over since the fans would love it, it makes sense financially and the team is my personal toy so hell yes I'm going to play ball. Now, let's also say Leslie had some research and tests done that showed the logo is so well loved that he decides to keep it. The colours however rub Leslie the wrong way and he's hell bent on changing to a more space theme given the NASA connection and space rockets regularly float amongst the stars, if not just in the sky. So he's going to stick with the space dark blue, red and white. Again, this makes a lot of sense and I'd personally love it, if we embraced the space theme more and got rid of the black and went back to blue. Also, nostalgia aside, you cannot convince me anyone loves the ketchup and mustard look. A different shade of red and yellow / gold, sure, but the particular red and yellow we had was too much McDonalds for anyone's liking I am sure. So, Leslie and his team look around the league for inspiration and sees the Hornets pinstripes are a huge hit. They are most sold of any franchise not named the Bulls (maybe 1-2 other teams at the time) and even among non-NBA / non-basketball fans it is widely loved. Granted, teal was somehow a huge factor, but the pinstripes worked and more teams were embracing the look. Hence, Leslie and company reveal in August 1995 the following: What would your reaction be? I know people like to be edgy, but if you're going to just come in here to hate on the actual rebrand, the idea of a rebrand or these current jerseys (in opposition to your favorite championship jerseys and our current logo and jerseys) then please just refrain from posting or GTFO. This is for people who were around back then and to those who weren't, but can at least imagine what it would've been like and react from that place. Thank you!
My reaction would have been exactly what it was back in the day.... which was wtf those uniforms are hideous
My answer is even if that looks great - it looks good, although the logo is very generic, id cut the fade from the pinstripes and i dont get suddenly making blue the key color - a couple of years after a championship with key players still on the roster probably isn't the time for a rebrand.
First off...it was very bad luck to change logos and uniforms after winning the chip, second those colors and that style never liked it! It was just a money grab to take advantage of new found fans because they just won the chip. Straight out bull$hit
Has any team ever rebranded after winning back to back titles ? Or have an owner admit he’s a Yankees fan and wanted pinstripes to show that @J.R.
It was a money grab in the minds of a New Yorker who now lives in Florida Les Alexander didn’t consult a fashion designer, he consulted a clown designer
