You send Jabari to the G-league and he will never resign here when he does become a start. Plus he is way too good for that.
It depends on what they’re trying to do. If you want to win, you limit his minutes. If you want him to develop, you let him play and coach him up. I still believe he’s going to get it going, but it takes some guys longer than others. There are enough glimpses to remain optimistic.
I will gladly happily say I was wrong, Jabari becoming a star is worth me just stating I'm a fool on thread any day of the week
You super cold blooded for this one It seems those 2/3 threads about him already are basically saying this just in a remix version (6th man / fake a injury etc)
I definitely think it is a mental thing with Jabari, it was clear as day how down on himself he was when he missed the wide open 3 in I think the third quarter today. Honestly felt bad for the kid seeing his reaction as he shuffled back down the court.
He was 2 for 5 from 3 today, his 30% from 3 on the season isn't really a problem... it's the 1 for 5 from 2 today, and the 31% on 2's for the year His mindset every game on offense should be get 3 dunks and pop open 3's, we have Garuba, Eason, and Boban in practice every day for him to go against, he has to get comfortable and aggressive with going to the rim. He currently takes just 9% of his shots at the rim at a 58% FG.... 55% of his shots are from 3 at 30%, and then 36% of the rest of his shots are in the mid-range at awful percentages. 30% from 3 is equivalent to 45% from 2, if he were to only shoot at the rim and 3's, he'd instantly be a much more efficient player, dude's shot chart needs to look like Ariza/Tuckers until he finds a better groove.
Grizzles (not OKC) sent Thabeet to the D league in his first or second season, I believe it was Hollins decision to do so as well. He is to this day the highest drafted player to get sent there. Grizzles really messed that one up, in a draft with Blake Griffen, Derozen, Harden, Steph , they go with Thabeet. Even taking Jrue Holiday would have been forgiven.
Guys please learn. We try to teach them fundamentals first, mostly off ball stuff. Off ball defense, off ball offense. We made Jalen stand in the corner for a long time and forced him to take his least preferred type of shots so that he would understand the importance of that. It's obvious they're doing the same with Jabari, teaching him how to live without the system being designed for him. With Green we then graduated to letting him take over more usage. With Jabari we're going to graduate to running complex set plays for him very similar to what you would expect for a Steph Curry or Reggie Miller type of scorer. His %'s will automatically improve at that point because he'll be taking the kind of shots he should have always been taking. It's not a mistake. It's not an oversight. It's just how it goes. You can't teach a bunch of 19/20 year olds how to run things for 4 different players while teaching them NBA defense for the first time. It just doesn't happen that way.
The last month or so has to be a new board record for dumb threads created in a short time span. Poor CF's. I miss the better days.
No. Smith isn't struggling any more than Green was at this point last season. Give him time to figure it out.
When high schoolers first started coming into the NBA teams were fine letting teenagers come off the bench to ease the transition, but it's just not done nowadays. I wish they had done it with Green last season, and I wish they had done it with Smith this season. At this point you just gotta let it ride and let him take his lumps. GTFO with that G league nonsense.
