Y'all really need to stop just naming people Stoyakovich had a much more advanced handle like all euros at that time. Just look at him with a crossover in the 2nd highlite. He also had a much quicker release. He was a triple threat.
Can u cite statistics? And I already showed you the percentiles. Are you arguing what elite means? That would be another argument then since you have another definition of elite.
Again, did you watch Stoyakovich at all when he played? Or did you find a clip that fit your narrative. He was actually quite slow on the dribble drive and that wasn’t his game. I never said he was the same player as Smith. I simply cited several players who didn’t have great handles or took people off the dribble because that’s not part of their game. Stoyakovich much like Thompson’s game was never breaking people down one on one or on the dribble drive. They played smart and took the lane and opportunities when given and they were better at Smith at this point in his career. My point is Smith can develop into this if he works on his game but he will never be a dominant dribble drive guy and he doesn’t have to be since all those players Mentioned did not have a dominant one on one dribble drive game either.
Statistics for what? Let's just say we have a different definition of elite. I use elite like the baseball HOF there is a difference between elite and very good. It's the reason Bagwell is not in the HOF while being very good, and I am not saying he does not deserve it. The final 4 is the elite of college basketball, 4 out of 64.
What is your definition of elite and please cite the data you were referring to in your argument. Or did you just make it up?
I watched Stoyakovich his entire time in the NBA you are the guy comparing him to Smith when they are nothing alike. This is not about breaking people down its about being able to dribble drive with a defender on you at a respectable level. Smith also can't shoot off the move like Stoya nor has the quick release of Stoya. I don't know why you are focusing on being a dominant dribble drive guy when he is not even a competent one at this point and once again if he is this hard work guy why does he not even have a semblance of a dribble drive game when other 19-year-olds at the same height or taller have much more advanced dribble games. Its obvious you don't know what you are looking at or you are choosing to ignore the differences.
Yo chill. Smith defense is good has potential to be great. Once his shots start falling he'll be solid at worse. Him and Tari are both good pieces that will be solid rotational pieces for years to come.
I didn’t compare anything. You like a lot of people on here are fixated on comparisons and thinking that people are saying the players are just alike. No one is saying this. I only said that those players found success in the NBA without great handles or a dominant One on one game. Stoyakovich was not a one on one or dribble drive guy. You need to go back and watch the games and not clips that fit your fuzzy memory and narrative. You also need to read and comprehend what I wrote before jumping to conclusions.
https://www.basketballinsiders.com/...-pick/history-of-the-nba-draft-pick-number-3/ Going off the History of the #3 pick every 10 years there's 1-3 superstar, borderline hall of famer, perennial allstar. The rest tend to be solid pieces minus the D. Miles, Okafor(although the game passed his style by), Morrison, Washburns, Some develop extremely early such as MJ, Melo, Dominique, Tatum, etc... Most it takes like 3-5 years to show there full potential. Basically, wait and patience. His defense already put him into a contributing category.
I was not the guy that started the comparisons you did. I never claimed players have not found success or that Smith cannot find success, why are you creating straw men all over the place. I did actually watch entire runs during the playoffs with Sacramento, I was rooting for them against the Lakers. I comprehend totally what you said, it seems you can't comprehend what you actually posted if you are telling me not to compare players when I only did it responding to you.
He absolutely was the consensus 3rd pick. Here's just a sample final mock drafts I grabbed from top results of a Google search. https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/wizards/2022-nba-mock-draft-110-two-round-final-edition https://nbadraft.theringer.com/mock-draft https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10039256-brs-final-2022-nba-mock-draft https://www.nba.com/bulls/news/sam-smiths-final-2022-nba-mock-draft https://www.si.com/nba/2022/06/23/n...het-holmgren-paolo-banchero-final-projections https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...f-chet-holmgren-in-final-projection-of-picks/ https://theathletic.com/3378966/2022/06/23/mock-draft-nba-first-round/ They were, and I would have been among them. But that doesn't change consensus. Jabari-stans resorting to mental gymnastics to defend their boy. This pick sucked, sucks and will suck. End of the story.
I also think you should look up the definition of the word compare and re-read what I wrote rather than what you think I wrote. Seriously. Its for your own good. Likely you will do this again to others.
