I'm thinking sign Contreras and let Maldy teach him for the long haul and move forward. 5yr deal for him

There are not really any "holes" in the lineup. 1B and DH will be addressed, more than likely through FA.

I understand, but his postseason record has to be factored in. My main concern is his age and recent injury history. It would be great if he wants to stay with the Astros for a reasonable deal. I just don't think it is a good idea to "sky" a contract and hope for the best.

Organizational dysfunction is clear if you just look at our lack of production from rookies.

    2014 - George Springer
    2015 - Carlos Correa
    2016 - Alex Bregman
    2017 - Yuli Gurriel
    2018 - Kyle Tucker
    2019 - Yordan Alvarez
    2020 - Christian Javier
    2021 - Luis Garcia
    2022 - Jeremy Peña

They jelly. This will die down once Crane appoints a new GM. It's not like Crane doesn't pay attention to the media and as a business professional and owner who cares about the team's image, no one wants the appearance of disfunction. The media is just driving the narrative home because they hate the Astros. I'm guessing Cintron and the players are all sleeping fine with their WS money and rings.

It's also hilarious he gets defensive when someone calls him out on it and he starts his tweet with "me speculating" but then it's suddenly the talk of the GMs when he's called out. What a clown!

I’ll take a dysfunction franchise with 2 WS rings, 4 ALCS pennants, and 6 consecutive ALCS appearance in the last 6 years over every MLB franchises right now. If I’m not an Astros fan, I would be jealous AF.

exactly. he's also saying in the last tweet that he couldn't care less about the perception, but the TALK ( meaning: perception) at winter meetings was...

it's all just pure cope. hypothetically, let's say there's absolute chaos in the front office right now. what does it even matter?? just won the chip and it has no affect on the on field product. it's literally cope. bunch of jealous executives jerking eachother off in vegas talking about how dysfunctional the world champs front office is lol. i love it.

I look at his post season record of 15-5 before the World Series and pretty impressed. And now that he has the monkey off his back in the World Series, I'm good with him being our go-to guy again.

Detroit WS he was 0-3 7.20 ERA

    Houston WS he's 1-3 4.90 ERA

    Doesn't look as bad

I think the truth is (like it usually is) somewhere in the middle. GM Meeting chatter of HOU’s internal dysfunction is probably a tad inflated/exaggerated. I’m sure GMs to some degree look out for each other and the optics of Crane’s situation, with a pressing and meddling owner, will lead to some rumors of this type of dysfunction. But I doubt it’s so dysfunctional that people are looking to leave, a la Cintron. And even if he were to leave, it may very well be for reasons outside of Hou’s control (I.e., chance to coach with your long time buddy Alex Cora). I’m sure that Crane is a tough owner to work under…so I wouldn’t say there’s ~no~ level of dysfunction…but blown out of the water? Definitely.

My bet is the “dysfunction” is two-fold

    1. Espada thinking he was going to be the Manager last year and still having to take a backseat to Baker for another year and how that impacts the view of the bench coaches on their future (big whoop)

    2. Click b****ing at the gm meetings about the above, his lack of contract security, and how difficult his boss is to work for. (really bad look for Click if you ask me. Winners are no cupcake to work with but it’s because they set the bar high enough to win. If it’s too hot - get the f out. Later Click - can’t say I’ll miss you)
