Some amazing color photos from the early 20th Century. These aren't black and white pics later colorized but actual color photos. The ones from Paris in the 1910's are really amazing.
I love old photos! (shorpy.com) That thumbnail pic of Christina is iconic and caused a huge stir on Twitter where everybody was trying to find out her identity ... 100 years later. They eventually did find out who she was. She passed away in the 80s. Those old pics are haunting in color. I don't like colorized stuff (usually), but there are some that are awesome because they're real colors. But I love any kind of old photographs, newspapers, ads, etc. The stuff that blows me away are the old movies from the early 1900's - like the drives down old roads in major cities or the interviews in the 1930s with old civil war veterans saying what it was like living back then and fighting. Thanks for posting it. BTW, if you're interested, I think there was an old thread on here about old photographs or something.
One of my uncles has made it a hobby to clean up and colorize family photos from 100+ years ago. I'll post some when I can get them. Nice thread.
The subtlety of the couch being on rolling wheels is what pushes this pic over the top to make it lit status.
Good to see you posting. Seems like it's been awhile and I always enjoyed your contributions. Hope all is well with you.
Not exactly on topic but this channel shows some old video footage, some remastered...just interesting how people interacted day to day in various time periods.
Very Cool......one thing that is different than the normal clips I see is they actually fixed the speed, so they look normal and not super quick as in other clips I have seen....makes for a more realistic experience. Nice, these are always fun to watch. I always wonder about days like in the old west and simple basic things that we take for granted and how they overcame it........everything from deodorant to daily showers and shaving (no manscaping??), to ice and AC.....how in the hell did they live in south Texas and not stink to high hell
Ah yes, the things we take for granted...at least they didn't have to deal with social media so it may be an even tradeoff.
