    Things that stood out.

Jalen Green defensive rating of 118. That’s a lie. What a defensive effort on McCullom. Absolutely locked him up. Kid is on the cusp of being a 2 way star. This will separate him from Ja in the future.

Jabari- as long as his pg is KPJ, he will continue to struggle in the NBA.

KPJ- he would be the perfect 3/D guy if he cared about defense and dropped all his desires to run an nba offense. He doesn’t understand the flow of the game. He zapped all the momentum from the game and I think he’s ultimately holding Jalen back.

Garuba- I think you have to start running more minutes with him as the 4/5 with Jabari. Zion stopped challenging him later in the game. I can see him forming in to a PJ Tucker type player and he really plays the game the right way.

    Good loss.

There’s no way the front office sees KPJ as the future. I know he’s young, but man… he has so far to go if he’s going to be a high usage player.

It's not Rockets science to understand what's going on here.

CJ McCollum was 3-14 from the field and a +20
KPJ was 9-16 from the field and a -28

Crazy on the surface, until you realize that one had 7 assists to 2 TO's and the other had 3 assists to 7 TO's.

KPJ is a great talent, but he's boneheaded and nothing exemplifies that more than standing their directing guys and having someone steal the ball right from your hands.

Net ratings of Lineups used last night..

As usual, we only play winning basketball when the dynamic duo is involved. Too bad, this goofy coach doesn't give them enough minutes.

I just can't believe the Rockets are not allowing Green to have the ball in his hands almost every possession. He is such a nightmare for defenses when he is in north and south mode. Combine that with KPJ's catch and shoot ability, its baffling. The only explanation is if this team is truly tanking and they are allowing JG to get better at off the ball duties.

Green didn’t have nearly enough touches late in the game. I also don’t have any idea why Gordon was subbed back in. Win or lose with your young guys.

    Exciting game though.

I love this and thank you for posting it, but there’s something else obvious here. The best lineup also had Nix at PG. He catches a lot of **** on here, but he has done a pretty good job with that bench unit.

the rockets are dumb beyond apprehension...

later on when we never win nothing we will cry we didnt have enough talent, not enough top picks, not enough experience...we picked the wrong guys etc..we must tank for talent infusion...NO, A BIG NO!

its your own fault...you werent savy with the playing time(!!!) and failed to develop....

people cry here about sengun not being enough defensively apt or able to stay on the floor due to fouls and silas never played him enough minutes to begin with to develop the tools and defensive talents he has...

this is why tanking never works...
teams that are dumb enough to tank are never smart enough to develop....
    theres no substitute for winning!

CP3 on this team would turn Jalen Green into a 3rd team ALL NBA player this season at age 20.

The first 5 line-ups have played 12,8,4,4,3 minutes and the rest are 2 minute line-ups. With very little minutes, the rating is misleading because a couple points in a 3-4 minutes stretch makes a huge difference when you scale it to 100 possessions. Looking at +/- here along with minutes and making a judgement would be better. With that said, the main points stand:

    1) All the negative line-ups except for one (2 minutes, guess it had a +1) has kpj. This is not surprising. He had a very bad game. This pattern was usually observed with Bari. Finally he reversed it!
    2) Two of the units you highlighed has Garuba (and Nix) as well, I am almost certain that as minutes increase this trend will stay there. The big3 is good.
