Nah just let him learn thru the ups n downs as a rookie He could easily get injured playing with second unit, I think he may have gotten hurt in practice, so a injury can happen anywhere, even at home or pick up games Just stick to the rebuild and play all the 1st round picks heavy minutes to see who is who and what is what
Smith is at 30% from 3 currently right where I thought he would be this year. Rashard Lewis as a 19 yo rookie was 16.7% and 33% in his second year from 3. Kevin Love was 11% as a 20 yo rookie and 33% in his second year. Kevin Durant as a 19 yo rookie was 29% from 3. Dirk Nowitski as a 20 yo rookie was 21% from 3. Bari will be fine everyone just needs to chill the F out.
I agree with you. BUT I am still dissapointed in the effort level I have seen at times. However... I think that is partly caused by his teammates inability to pass him the ball in the open corner. The likely outcome is a plus plus defender, average to plus rebounder and plus plus 3 point shooter who generates some points from cuts and mid range as well. Possibly he develops offensively and goes Giannis but I dont see it. I want him to be more 4/5 than 4/3 so I want to see him gain some strength and weight.
Al Horford was 0% from 3 as a rookie. Just goes to show you that shooting is a very acquirable skill at the nba level. Perhaps more value should be placed on skills that are harder to gain in the NBA. That is the way it’s always been and why Jabari made 0 sense at #1.
So a taller Mikal Bridges? I got absolutely flamed for predicting that. “ He’s Klay Thompson at minimum….”
don't mind the missed shots. that happens but his lack of effort is truly pathetic. got bullied by larry nance and didn't even put up a fight. is he scared?
Starting to turn the corner. Solid game with 15 rebounds a couple blocks. The offense will come and the defense will only get better. gotta get a real point guard and the whole team will benefit, but especially bari. Gonna be fun watching him mature and put some bulk on his frame so that he can impact the game more.
I thought he had a good game, effort was there and he didn’t force shots. Loved that he had some layups and wasn’t afraid to mix it up getting 15 boards. Defensively he struggled with Zion’s size but once he adds some weight he should be fine. And he’s no longer just standing around waiting for the ball. I’m looking forward to his progress, he’s learning quicker than I had expected after those horrible first ten games.
Jabari will be a rebounding machine once he gains 20-25 of muscle. 6'11" 247 lbs sounds a and all the rebounds will be his.
He's still standing on the 3 point line tho'. That's on Stone and Silas. He has to get him in the paint. He may suck in the paint, but it doesn't matter, the key is to develop as a scorer in his rookie year. And that's not happening if he continues to just stand there.
I get that +/- does not tell you a whole lot in one game, but over a series of games it should tell you something. Looking at Jabari's +/- vs his replacement is concerning, also when looking at how much they lose by and his specific +/- it makes it seem he is not an NBA player right now and not ready at all to be getting significant minutes, and definitely should not be starting. We have had some bad luck with being the worst team, and not getting the top pick, and there being a significant difference between our pick and the top pick in both years. The NBA really should look at giving us the top pick next year. This team is genuinely awful and lacks talent all around, it is not intentionally tanking.
He can’t get in paint when Sengun is in the game because Sengun doesn’t shoot the 3 - kills the spacing …. And our post passers are non-existent
The guy was drafted to provide range. He's got to provide it if not he's definitely not worth the pick. You can't move on to his very lackluster, no burst, bo separation dribble game before he starts hitting outside, because he's probably down there with Boban in that department
It not about winning. We need to develop the player. We know he can shoot. We need a scorer. And you can learn that in game against competition.
Yeah, I think Bari just needs to beef up a bit so he can have more presence down low. I think he'll be fine and still think he has a ton of potential. He's just an inconsistent rookie, that's true of like 99% of rookies, and playing on just a disjointed team ain't helping.
I never said nothing about winning, I said he can’t be in the paint as long as AS is in the paint… when they run KJM and Smith together he’s in the paint alot more because he usually moves to C unless Guaruba is in also
