He put victory in quotations. Democrats are basking in moral victories, that's all it is. Lets not overanalyze the excitement. Everyone tries to find the positive in what was suppose to be a disaster.

Right, everyone on CNN and the Democratic establishment is giddy as hell but at the end of the day, they are still likely to lose control of the House of Representatives and that’s a big deal.

    This isn't spin.

The party in power historically takes huge losses in the midterm, the Dems did not this time. That's the truth. This was a historic hold by the party in power, no spin.

Yes, it is a win because when you flip state houses, when you barely (and they still might win) lose the house, when you keep the senate, that is all a success for this environment with the president being unpopular, with inflation, no, the spin is that the GOP is actually happy.

The GOP isn't. You can look at the reactions from the GOP leaders vs the DNC leaders and see who actually won. One party is questioning their leadership and the other isn't.

We're acting like the GOP wasn't expecting 30 seats at least.

Ben Shapiro said it best. If your football team is supposed to go 16-0, going 8-8 and still making the playoffs isn't a victory.

On the flip side, if you're supposed to go 0-16 but go 8-8 and make the playoffs that is a victory.

This election went down as one should expect. A decisive House win with a marginal Senate win. The latest polls seem to give Republicans a strong victory but only serves to remind us polls continue to be deceiving.

Lets stick with the good news; Trumpism is continuing to be rejected.

Uhh, what? We *still* don't know who's going to control the House. Whoever it is will likely control it by 1 or 2 seats. That's not a decisive win - GOP thought they'd control the House by 20-30 seats. Instead, they will likely flip 6-7 seats, all of which can be attributed to redistricting. With 2020 districts, Dems would actually have *gained* seats in the House, along with gaining a Senate seat and 1-2 governorships. That is not how a midterm is supposed to go. The only other time a party gained seats in recent history was the election 2 months after 9/11 when Bush approval ratings were skyhigh.

As a reminder, this is how you thought the election was going to go:
