Not that it matters now, but I'd have Choi, Altuve, Pena, Bregman Tucker, Chas, Alvarez Maldy, other catcher Meyers, Hensley, Diaz, Dubon If Astros keep Brantley, Dubon is gone. Since Choi has been traded already, this lineup would work with Rizzo, Abreu, or Bell as well.
Who would have guessed Dusty would outlast Click? Crane better have something up his sleeve because this looks awful.
There was something going between Crane/Baker and Click. Whatever it was, we need a GM who works well with Crane.
Luhnow is not coming back. Didn’t Luhnow have to sue Crane when Crane refused to pay out the balance of his contract?
So all you people that accused me of BS saying that Dusty is on the same page as Click earlier this year...
Had a feeling his comments wouldn’t sit well with Crane. Seems like this is exactly what Crane wanted, however. I won’t judge until the plan comes full circle
I honestly can't say I'm a fan of the way Crane handled this. If you don't think Click is the right man for the job then fine, break it off. I don't like shifting the blame that he's the one choosing to leave for refusing a clearly meant to be rejected offer. I hate, and I mean hate, that Dusty seemingly has a say in the next GM. Maybe Crane will actually allow the new guy to dictate, but at this point I'm not sure.
So … will it be David Stearns then? If Crane doesn’t have a deal in place with someone, it would be a horrible look especially with Ozcampo leaving too
Crane and Click didn't get on. That happens. I imagine the Astros bring in someone else fairly competent. I'm not upset.
Will Dusty have a say though? He's only going to be around for 1 or 2 years max. Crane didn't fire the guy who built this team but a GM that filled in nicely and didn't rock the boat. If Crane did not like the way Click was running the team, or didn't get along with him then I don't see a problem with letting him go. The 1 year was a slap in the face for a young GM and was basically forcing him to leave.
Disney is not a good comparison with the Astros. The Astros expect excellence from their people while Disney is a low expectation kind of a place.
