Note: I never actually read the trade proposal, I was just simply reacting to getting Paul Pierce in general. If they were simply giving him away, of course any team would take him... but you have to normally have to spend $$$ and give up big names to get a player of his stature. But, seeing as the trade proposed is quite unrealistic, I don't need to say any more. And, I stand by my original assesment of Pierce... his game has gotten worse.
But the SECOND they ask for the rights to either Badiane or Spalouniss, pull the offer off the table. Someone has to draw the line - that trade would be proposterous. We'd be better off sitting tight.
These recent trade proposals remind a lot of the Pat Riley Trade Creator website back in 1998 or maybe 1999. That's when he was getting all these talented players for crap. I can't even remember any specific examples, but the website functioned on the premise that Riley won't ever get the short end on a trade. Like you would type in Hakeem Olajuwon and then the Creator would spit out a deal like "2 second round picks and cash" trade accepted, or some hilarious stuff like that. Oh well, I like to reminisce.
as much as I love PP, we don't need him since we got T-Mac. Taylor+Pike for PP? you must be kidding. they just turned down a Ray Allen+? for PP proposal, enought said. Taylor an all-star in the East? ok then let's trade him for Sheed. didn't you heard JVG said that Yao & T-Mac should be surronded by players like J.J.? just give me Fisher and Etan Thomas and then trade Taylor+pick for Booth + Daniels we'd be set. Yao Ming, Booth, Spoon Thomas, Howard, Padgett Jackson, Nachbar McGrady, (Daniels), (Gaines) D. Fisher, (Daniels), (Gaines) IL. Wilks, Pike, Griffin
Wow, not only does this guy propose an impossible deal of our garbage for a superstar, the superstar he proposes to get is a ballhogging cancer. While we're at it, let's trade Ainge some oceanfront property in South Dakota for Ricky Davis. Then we can have THREE star scorers, so that 7'6 stiff we got in the middle never gets to touch the ball. Plus defense would be covered, because Ricky would shoot on our basket for the opposition. Why didn't I think of this earlier!?
If the Heat are trading Lamar O, B Grant, Butler and a first round draft pick for Shaq... how does MoTaylor (who is a ballplayer people!), Pike (when healthy, one of the best shooters in the league... not scorers... but shooters) and a first round draft pick for PP seem that far off?
dconover, you've been around awhile...why on earth would you start a thread like this? Put yourself on thread starting probation for a month at least.
Because Shaq is forcing a trade, and every GM in the league knows it. Plus, he gave the Lakers a list of teams to trade him to, and then the list was leaked to the media, so the Lakers had even less trade leverage.
Stop the madness! The Celtics, if they were to trade Pierce huge IF at that, would want a star in return, nobody is going to lineup to see a team that has Maurice Taylor as its best player, nobody!
Not to mention the fact taht the Heat's package (expiring contract, plus young all star caliber SF, plus good young swingman) beats the living hell out of overpaid, one dimensional forward with albatross long term deal and shooter specialist who can no longer shoot.
I understand... I would not trade value for him either if I was the Rockets (since they have more pressing needs)... but if that trade were offered, you have to take it and worry about what to do with Pierce later
SamFish... because I always like and respect your post... I will put myself on a tread probation for one month. That said... it is not that bad of an idea.
Muhahahahahaha Actually, I was just speaking figuratively -- just put yourself on silly thread starting probation -- as we should all be.
