Would need to be someone that can teach our young PGs the nuances of the position like a Lowry or a Conley.

my hope is an upper level pg & center next offseason with our cap space...

in the meantime... gimme some old washed pg whose willing to come in and just be a facilitator - to teach and feed the kids...

lost a step and a defensive liability? thats fine...

scoring is not necessary - we're still tanking and just developing the kids....

somebody that can feed the post... run an offense...

This is a forum where we discuss ideas. No one really thinks trades are influenced in any way by CF.

Without a pass-first pg setting the offense, this team is crippled.

Doesn't need to be a starting pg, just someone who has experience and isn't TO prone.

Anthony Black out of Arkansas, I personally have never seen him play but his scouting report is the ideal fit.

Unfortunately, the pickings are getting pretty slim.

2023 PG free agents under 30 years old: D. Russell, VanVleet (player option), Coby White, Dennis Smith Jr. It falls off pretty fast if one or two guys re-signs with their team.
2023 C free agents under 30 years old: M. Turner, Noel, Poeltl, Drummond. Even less depth.

We could certainly go spend money on a Vucevic or a Derrick Rose or shudder Kyrie, but by the time the Rockets are ready to win games they'll be washed.

I think we’re gonna address PG and Center in the off-season. Nothing is gonna get done this season. It’ll be taken care of through the draft and free agency

We should definitely give up assets to sabotage our draft position.

I would ideally like to get a C and a PG in the 26yo range, so that it would still be possible to sign them to a second contract if they work out.
As you stated the pickings are very slim, and the few decent players are likely to want to sign with contenders. Our only saving Grace is that with the amount of cap space we have, we could offer two max contracts.

I don’t see many options other than going all-in for D. Russell and Myles Turner.

    Draymond Green

Warriors don't win any of their championships without his elite defense....and he gets you 7 assists (if you put 3-pt shooters around him)

I think Sengun has the offensive role covered while Draymond is a far superior defender in this quick comp. Draymond enjoys the best supporting shooting cast in all of basketball. Once the shooters on this team can settle in around Sengun it should mimic that output. It would be hard to root FOR Draymond Green and Alpy is not completely useless on defense at leasts within the restricted area.

I think the Rockets should roll out Sengun as the lead initiator like the majority here have been clamoring for and see how that works with a gameplan built on that style. Might as well tinker with the lineups and "systems" and see what sticks for this year and make the games palatable to watch. Guards/Wings are just not playing well enough currently to keep force feeding the open court concepts. May as well just slow it down around Alpy and allow the rest of the team to play less stressed out.

Hard to fathom paying close to 30Ms per season for D'Angelo Russel when the #s look as bad as KPJs so far this year.

Would a Conley or Lowry type help us out? Absolutely.

Is it worth surrendering assets and/or will they want to come here (at this stage of their careers)? Nope.

Which leaves you realistically with a DJ Augustin type.

That’s the question that you have to ask yourself. Would his addition be worthwhile or are we better off with talent already in house?
