    Damon Jones

He's only 28. He played in Houston, and look at his assist ratio.

Plus, he's probably cheaper than Fisher.

he seems to be more backup material than starter material.

The impression I've gotten is his shot selection is as questionable as anyone's in the league.

No oh GOD not Damen..people need to wake up. He can shoot but that's about it. He used to be a KING player and i know everything about him. He's coming off the bench. ...he's not a starter marterial.

I agree with Raven. Will someone tell me why Arroyo would have been any better than Damon Jones?

League Leaders in Assist to Turnover Ratio

Jones is number 2 on this list. Considering that turnovers were our biggest problem last year, we should be looking at this pretty closely. Plus his 3P % is not that bad.

Is he a stud PG? No, but as others have pointed out, we can't expect to have studs at every position, and his game would seem to compliment TMac and Yao very well.

Granted he's bounced around the league some, but if we can get him for half of the MLE as some posters have suggested, it looks like a bargain to me.

So has JJ. That's what the nature of some role players.

We're not talking about a superstar, here. He's just a soild PG.

Damon Jones' stats may look nice, but he's reputed to be a huge locker-room cancer. I've heard that he's always the most hated player on any team because of his lack of heart and attitude problems.

Jim Jackson may have bounced around the league a lot, but Jones takes it to a new level: 8 different teams in 6 seasons.

How many teams have Jackson been on? What about 10 in 14 yrs. How could a guy who's just trying to make it in the league be a cancer. Sometimes players have to find a team that is confortable. Avery Johnson was cut twice by the rockets and the Spurs before helping them to a ring and being a solid player. How many team have Cassel been on? Rox,Suns,Mavs,Nets,Bucks,Wolves. Is he not a quality player. They talk about shot selection? How can a guy shoot 44% from 3 land after all star break when ford went down? What about 47% 3pt against the might Pistons and 52% overrall. Did i say 10ppg 7.4 asst and 1.6 to in the playoffs also.

All I'm saying is that stats don't tell you everything about a player. His stats might look good, but when I watched him play, he seemed very nonchalant about everything. It was as if he just didn't care about the game.

If the Rockets decide to go out and get him, I sure as hell hope he proves me wrong. However, based on what I've seen, my opinion of him stands.

Stats don't tell you everything, but after Ford went down, he avg 7.7ppg,7asst,shot 42.5fg and 44.9 3pt along with less than 2 to's a game. In the playoffs when the n games get tighter, he shot 52%fg, 47%3pt,7.4asst,4 rebs, and less than 2 to's. Those number don't lie at all.

I'm stating my opinion based on what I've seen of him on court and what I read in the Chronicle after his 10-day contract with the Rockets in 2001. Just a word of caution that he may bring some undesirable qualities to the table. It's a risk/reward thing.

Jim Jackson was a supposed to be a locker-room cancer as well. I'll be the first to admit that I didn't think he'd be good on this team, but I turned out to be completely wrong. If JVG has the ability to take in unwanted journeymen and turn them into solid contributors, then more power to him.

This is absolutely false. You obviously have him confused with someone else. Damon Jones is generally very well liked.

I've said it before and I will say it again....

There is NOTHING not to like about Damon Jones. He might not be a superstar, but he's a damn fine little point guard.

if we can get him for relatively cheap i'd say go for it. I really wanted barry, but since he's gone i'd prefer damon jones over fisher and snow.
