Luckily, we'll be coming off a championship in the 2006-2007 season, and Yao will want to stay to continue the streak!
I don't get why there's so much speculation on this whole thing. It doesn't make sense from almost any standpoint. If Kobe can't stand having Shaq around, why in the world would he possibly want Yao next to him? Even if Kobe wants Yao, who can the Lakers come up with the cap space to sign him(especially with this Shaq trade)? Even then, why would Yao sacrifice money, move to a whole different city, when he's obviously someone who doesn't like too much change, as evidenced by his sadness over the Rockets trades. Unless Yao begins to whine about playing in Houston, AND the Lakers start clearing capspace, AND Kobe decides that he would love to have a superstar big man, there shouldn't even be a discussion.
Why are u so sure it would happen? Judging from numerous posts here during the last season, I am not so sure ...
What??? What posts are you talking about. Yao Ming is the most marketable player in the NBA and maybe in the world. He is also the most dominant center in the game outside of Shaq. The Houston Rockets gave Steve Francis a max contract after his 3rd year, do you really think for even a second that they would not give Yao Ming a max contract as well? Anyone that thinks otherwise is just smoking crack.
Can we PUH-LEEZE stop the whiny ass threads about what may or may not happen 3 or 4 years from now??? For all we know, the world could freaking implode before then. Talking about what Yao MAY OR MAY NOT DO is utterly pointless.
Everyone with dollars, not just the Lakers, are going after Ming when or if he ever becomes available. Clearly it's going to be ALL up to Ming whether he is here or not when the time comes, and I can guarantee that money won't be a problem.

A few weeks ago someone posted a thread from sina.com It had Yao's quotes about the McGrady trade. One of his quotes, and I paraphrase, that Yao would still want to play with Houston no matter what happened. And that he will not leave because he likes the city and is loyal. I even suggesed someone post the article to lakersforum.com. The title of the thread was something like, "Yao's first comments on trade..." I couldn't find it.
only the Miss Cleo advocates know what'll happen in 2007, but i agree with the poster that says everyone will be interested. all things remaining equal ... the lakers will retool, they always have ... and they'll do it from the available talent pool at that time. hopefully the Rockets will have Yao all locked up before 2007.
