I want to suggest the Astros keep wearing one of the alternate jerseys for the rest of the series. As I recall the Nationals did the same in 2019.
So the Astros have gotten 25 innings of 0.72 ERA from their starting pitching depth this postseason. Dammit Click for not trading these guys away for a CF as we are stuck with Chas's 153 wRC+ in the postseason!
Yep. Syndergaard is not expected to go more than 3 innings. Put it this way. If it's not a bullpen game for the Phillies, it means the Astros hitters really crapped the bed.
I am wondering this too. What is the story on Syndergaard? Will he be on a pitch count. They don't seem to confident in him to be honest so I am wondering what the story is. 1-5 needs to be ready to tag him early and make him pay when he makes mistakes.
He's a guy that once had great stuff dominating hitters when healthy (which wasn't often). He's lost 3-4 ticks on his fastball after TJ surgery, and is now a guy that pitches to contact and depends on his defense for outs. He is not a very endurant pitcher and his control waivers quickly. Poor control versus a team like the Astros that will take walks and crush mistakes is something the Phillies are greatly afraid. I doubt he makes it 2 times through the order even if he hasn't given up a run.
