Sengun doesn't take the Rockets as serious as like he was playing for Turkey. He needs to call for the ball down low every time he get the position, like what Wood did, and he needs to be more vocal like Jabari Smith Jr. at the defensive end. Even he said he was alright coming off the bench, I don't think he genuinely agree with the coach's decision as his body language on the court showed. Last year our 2nd unit ran some plays and shared the ball well, this year the offense of the 2nd unit is as stagnant as the 1st unit. The coach has many questionable rotations. If a player played so well with the 2nd unit last year and most people believe he'll get the start in the upcoming season, the coach started some guys who average a couple minute per game over him. What would the young guy think, especially he was the MVP from another league a couple year ago? I don't blame Sengun for his inconsistences, but he certainly needs to be more aggressive.
Just turned 20 a little over 3 months ago. Where is the ceiling exactly? Why not use him to get the guards open more, and to foul out opposing bigs more?
Sengun played well. Double double and played some defense but man I just wish he were 2 inches taller. Once Jabari add weight and muscle it will help or if we get Wemby it will definitely help
I wish he had a better standing reach. His height is fine, he just has low shoulders and not super long arms. Wingspan is ok he’s just built funny for a 6’10/6’11 guy
Zubac is a damn fine player, and very tall. A true 7-0... He got mercilessly wrecked tonight by a teenager. And we are sitting here talking about 2 inches.
He just turned 20, Line is 26pts, 13boards, 3assists. Shot ~62% vs. 7 ft 7 year NBA veteran Zubac. Terrible. Clearly not Wilt Chamberlain.
American casuals tend to downplay or overlook savvy high bbiq players. No way should a 20 year old, shorter center make Zubac, a solid bigger center his btch.
As a kid that grew up as a huge Moses Malone and Charles Barkley fan... (you fill in the rest) Sengun can provide that sort of devastating rim pressure. Chuck was 6-4. Moses Malone was 6-10 on a good day, just like Alperen Sengun. It isn't binary, Steve Jobs. It isn't NBA2K. Basketball can be played in many different ways. Sengun is unique and people are frustrated that they can't pencil him in as a 7-4 rim-running Kelvin Cato.
I am on board with letting him be the focal hub of the offense, might as well see what we got in him. He was amazing tonight and he got screwed by Silas when he got his 4th foul by Silas not challenging a no foul call. DD
