No. But only because a midseason coaching transition is not going to get us "the guy". I am certainly 100% in agreement he needs to go, I just think that's a summer concern. Let us be awful, it's not going to do permanent damage to a bunch of 20-year-olds. Giannis went 15-67 when he was 19 and that didn't turn him into Darius Miles.

Let things play out. Evaluate this question properly in May.

the lottery is rigged and even with the worst record we could still end up with the 5th pick. i absolutely do not believe silver is going to send wemby to a tilman-run franchise. so losing a year of player development while building horrid habits is not acceptable. silas needs to be canned ASAP

Case for No: He’s doing exactly what the Rockets want
Case for Yes: Not the short or long term solution. (I would) Promote Mahmoud Abdelfattah, see what you have there.

If they’re “too young” to be good (or even halfway mediocre) and “don’t know any better”, then who cares who the coach is, right? In the words of Kyrie, we don’t need a coach. They’ll keep on with their losing ways. Afraid they’re gonna mess up the ‘tank’ and/or start winning?

That said, they’re not gonna fire him. “Hard schedule”, “it’s about ‘development’, not W/L”, “pleased with the job he’s done/doing”, blahblahblah

Yes. We should be looking at both individual and team improvement--but it's hard to get the team to improve when you have established no team identity. The sooner we do that, the better. I know it's the middle of the season and tough to get a good replacement, but at this point I'd let Hollins take over and see if we can't at least start putting in a foundation on D. New hire next year could build on it. Right now, new hire next year has nothing to start with except individual pieces.

My hunch is half of the kids will be gone next year. The remainders, along with some talented newcomers, will be coached by Hollins and/or JVG. Tanking will be passe.

For this season's tank to be successful, we need Silas coaching, the ball in KPJ's hands for 75%+ every possession, more minutes for Gary Bird, and much more of Jabari at the 5. Basketball so ugly it's its own new art form. Ipecac to get rid of the poison.

The only reason not to fire Silas is if John Lucas takeover. Fans would have trouble to distinguish who's the mascot, Clutch Bear or John Lucas? OMG, Houston, we have a problem.

I agree he's not great but it really doesn't matter if we can him now or this summer. This losing culture stuff is overrated. Remember Devin Booker? The guy who was on garbage teams and intentionally fouled at the end of a game to score 70 pts. Same year as the Eric Bledsoe I don't wanna be here tweet. All with a **** owner who was throwing goat dung around. That's peak bad culture. Didn't matter. He's still an MVP candidate today on a team that made the finals. Just signing CP3 completely reversed any bad culture BS. The culture can be fixed when we're ready to win.

I say we move on from Silas, let Lucas or Hollins finish the season then make Abdelfattah head coach in the off season. More than likely they will let Silas finish the season though.

i'm a big silas-out guy but i don't think the timing is great to do it now. you have to wait till at least game 40. i think it may actually light a fire under the players asses to see their favorite coach get the boot. a lesson in accountability.

now is the perfect time to start finding the eventual replacement.

Wasn't there literally an article last season noting that the lineups were dictated by Rafael Stone?
Silas is most likely just following orders. This is the season before Rockets give their picks to OKC.

They are obviously tanking this season. The upcoming draft has been hyped up (like most drafts) to have generational talent and elite prospects. It would make sense that Stone would want a top pick in this draft.

I don't know why some of you guys are in such a rush to win with a team that is in its second year of a rebuild.

I don’t think so. We were expected to blow this year too. And I don’t like hiring a new coach in the middle of a season and thrusting him into a bad situation. And there’s no point in appointing an interim coach.

Fire Silas at the end of the season and hire your coach to lead this era and give him a fresh start with a full offseason.
