so nothing on coaching or management abilities? i'm telling yalls, we need to give the breh a few more to truly judge him. like 7 seasons
Who was the last team that won a championship with their SG who can't pass and can only score as their best player? I think Green can be a perenial all star but his skill set works best with an elite PG which we don't have.
Tillman should sell half of his shares to Jalen so we can watch him grow for 20 seasons. I would love to see that.
The problem is his skillset can be developed to certain levels but mental development is much more difficult to achieve. You can’t really change someone passive to be aggressive. I’m just concerned if he gets mentally strong and competitive.
oh god let’s hope not. we need lotteries for about 15 years. sell him to okay see for our picks back if necessary
This thread is hilarious but I do agree that when you tell players you’re rebuilding/tanking this is what you get.
No one under the age of 30 can tell you with a straight face that Green could be the best player on a championship team. He’s not even close to that and that’s ok.
this going to sound like a bad excuse but i wonder how much bulking is affecting his shot. everyone that plays ball know that its tough to gain muscle and stay on your shooting form. i'm not worried though, they will eventually balance out. Jalen is a shooting guard, not a passing guard... if he makes 2-3 more shots a game then this thread doesn't exist. homie does need to learn how to do a reverse layup though.
I think he speeds through ball screens and our guys are so slow to roll that Jalen slows down on the other side and never recovers. We must have the least effective pick and roll game in the league right now - can someone check those advanced stats?
No reason why a scoring guard can't be your best player on a contender or championship team. No reason we can't see Green and Bari develop into some form of Tatum and Brown. They just need much more time to develop physically unfortunately. Anyway.,,We just need to build the roster around our top picks better as the natural physical growth happens. No one knows their role on this team and KPj thinks he's the franchise. It's all backwards. The true pg is rare and unnecessary. How many are there with a scoring guard? 1 in CP3? Tatum and Brown got a DPOTY at point. Cleveland already had good pieces and traded for studs and building an actual team so well that Mobley isn't even their 3rd most important player right now. OKC got SGA hitting his prime and youth and solid players picked with clear cut roles and Chet on the horizon. Hell, they could be getting Chet and Wemby next year and ready to add vets or trade for a disgruntled star or they get Scoot and make some trade using SGA or Giddy for a better fitting star to the Scoot/Chet duo. Detroit is ready to do that too because Cade is already high floor stud-Orlando will be similar in the coming years. This was known. The higher ceiling, lower floor guys take longer. This is known. BUT....OUR COACH/ROSTER IS TRASH and our only hope are young kids with skinny bodies who we are poorly developing in lieu of a guy who dropped in the draft and ran out of that same Cleveland team that's now succeeding. Only way it makes sense to me is were trying to get KPj's value high enough to make a big move. We go for our top pick next summer and then we do with KPj what Cleveland did with Sexton and go in for a budding superstar/disgruntled all star and use other guys without a role to trade for true role players. Get a new coach w/ new system. Develop while competing. Profit.
I said since draft day that -at worst- Green is a modern day Sprewell and even that guy was an important piece to a overachieving Finals appearing Knicks team and contending TWolves team. We got the good of Spree in Green and the bad of Spree in KPj. They don't mix well. At worst Bari might be young Horry which yeah, that's pretty much bust for a #3 but can still be very important on a contender-especially if you end up with the true prize of the decade in Wemby.
I know its like people are not satisfied until they are tearing somebody down. I have liked what I have seen from JG so far this year and nobody should be unhappy with the way this team competes, which is all you should want out of a coach at this point in a rebuild.
Only the fact that no scoring guard has one a championship since Jordan as the best player on a championship team. But that only matters if you actually care about history.
