No, not 'Chinese Democracy'. Anyone have this? coma? ROSE PRICKED AGAIN! GUNS N’ ROSES singer AXL ROSE has failed to suppress the release of old material by his band for the second time this year. Rose had sued Deadline Music/Cleopatra records following the June release of 'The Roots Of Guns N’ Roses', a compilation which featured recordings by an early incarnation of the band, Hollywood Rose, reports Billboard. The 1984 recordings featured Rose and future Guns guitarist Izzy Stradlin. Rose was denied a preliminary injunction on Tuesday (July 6) after suing for trademark infringement, improper use of his name and likeness and unfair competition - arguing that the compilation could affect sales of the current Guns N’ Roses Greatest Hits album. Earlier this year, Rose and former members of the band tried and failed to prevent the release of that record. http://www.nme.com/news/109091.htm Here's a review from Amazon: Album Description No other decade in the history of civilization symbolized the glamorous, sleazy, over-the-top party rock lifestyle like the 1980s! No band on earth represents said excess better than the legendary Guns N' Roses. This collection of rare demo tracks from Axl, Izzy & crew has long been rumored to be the holy grail of glam rock - the genesis of screams & riffs that would eventually evolve into the most massive offering of the period - the mighty 'Appetite!' Now, with the help of Rose alum, Chris Weber, fans & collectors can own these mythic, raw (yet surprisingly well recorded) demos of this pre-G N'R band for the first time ever on CD! As an added bonus, the songs are polished with a modern production compliments of former Gunner Gilby Clarke, Cinderella skinsman, Fred Coury & the man who brought the Guns to Guns N' Roses...Tracii Guns! ROCK ON! Looks like there's only 5 songs, and they're remixed twice to make the album have 15 songs.
What a total waste of talent. Axl could have put out some great music this past decade if he weren't so hung up on himself.
Hollywood Rose? That was pre-Slash, right? And that's quite a collection of hangers-on to have the thing "polished with a modern production." So we've essentially got Axl and Izzy... no Slash, no Steven Adler, and I don't know about Duff. Kind of silly to bill it as "early Guns "n Roses," but I guess I'll check it out.
anyone see VH1's Behind The Music on Guns and Roses? Pretty good stuff, but the only band members interviewed were Slash and the original drummer, who btw, suffered a drug induced stroke and isn't quite the same anymore...
Man, I am glad that I am not a fan of this band or I would be highly pissed at prima donna Rose right now!
i talked to steven adler before and he told me that basically the original members want to do something new (reunion), but they can't trust mr. rose, the flake. Adler then said, "*uck Axl"
Guns and Roses have pretty much irrelevant for years now. Getting upset by them not releasing an album is like being frustrated by the lack of output by the Big Bopper, or the Doobie Brothers. They are better served if Axl drops any conceit that they are still a band and have "Chinese Democracy" come out under the Axl Rose Project banner...hey, maybe Axl and Alan Parsons can hook up...rock!
