For financial reasons we can add one of our exceptions to make this work and I think it would be a very strong move for us

Cleveland trades: PG Kevin Ollie (4.2 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 2.9 apg in 17.1 minutes)
PF Carlos Boozer (15.5 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 2.0 apg in 34.6 minutes)
Cleveland receives: PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -8.2 ppg, -8.4 rpg, and -3.5 apg.

Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Houston receives: PG Kevin Ollie (4.2 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 2.9 apg in 82 games)
PF Carlos Boozer (15.5 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 2.0 apg in 75 games)
Change in team outlook: +8.2 ppg, +8.4 rpg, and +3.5 apg.

Neither exception can be combined with players in trade.

We're not getting Boozer. Deal with it.

    It can't happen.

Cleveland would first have to get far enough under the cap to sign Boozer and if they could do that then they would just keep him.

This has been discussed a lot already, but to clear things:

    1. Boozer is a RFA and has already agreed to sign with Utah, Cleveland would have to match the 6yr 68M and then trade him to us.

    2. Cleveland wouldn't even look at this deal anyways.

Actually I think the way he is using the exception is fine.

    Trade MoT for Boozer

    Trade the TE for Ollie

Something like that is leagle but the problem is that Cleveland would have to get far enough under the cap to sign Boozer before they could execute a sign and trade. If they could sign boozer they would not trade him.

I don't mean to be rude, but the Jazz pretty much have Boozer. That was the stupidest move GM Jim Paxson could have made. The Jazz's frontcourt is scaring me now....AK, MOkur, and Boozer...all young, solid defenders, with the promise of creating havoc in the West as starters.

We don't need that liar on the team. How could the Rox ever trust him.

    No thanks.

Though I'm surprised the Rox haven't offered the exception, plus MT for big Z. Then the Cavs could re-sign Boozer, and turn around and trade him.

Don't be surprised, because that deal is not possible. You cannot use the trade exception that way.

You can't do it that way, SJC , but you can do the deal you yourself proposed, where the TE goes for their spare parts, and Big Z goes for Mo T + Pike.

Then Cleveland can resign Booze, hold him for 60 days, then trade him for a star. That will be a big contract, and they can get a big talent back.

Same thing as Marc Jackson with the Rox and Golden State a few years back, except this is Carlos Boozer, not Marc Jackson, and Paxson should get more than that moron at the Warriors did, so long as he makes a deal instead of sitting on his ass.

Benzman501, sure we can get boozer, I have a better plan than yours.

First we give TE to Cavs and ask them to send us Battie, Luke Jackson and future 1st rounder.

With the acquired $6.9 cap space, Cavs match Jazz's offer, and keeps Boozer.

Then we convince Cavs that keeping Boozer hurts the chemistry on their team, and get them to trade him and McInnes to us for MoT and Spoon.

    Then our roster will be

    Yao/Battie
    Boozer/Howard
    JJ/Boki/Tmac/AG
    Tmac/Pike/Luke
    McInnes/Lue/Gaines

Then we can sign Fisher and another big guy.

This only happens in fantasy land, where benzman501 lives.
