Does Sengun still have more turnovers than assists? Asking for a friend.

Sengun has 1 turnover every 12.6 minutes.

KPJ has 1 turnover every 10 minutes.

    You are welcome.

I'll take this as you saying "Yes, Sengun still has more turnovers than assists, but as a Sengun first fan I cannot admit this"

Because so much of that time comes from bringing the ball up the court, I think the comparison needs to be between other point guards. How does he compare to them, and are they one of the main scoring options on their team?

LOL I'd love to see it.

On the Rockets, I often have the impression that everyone else is passing less also because they know they will not get it back.

I think Smith and Jalen green are struggling bc the offense system where kpj is the main distributor blows. I can't say with absolute certainty that making sengun the main offense focal point will instantly improve green and Smith, i still think it warrants a try. We are currently what 1-6, doing this iso kpj show?

We ain't winning with kpj as the main distributor. Man isn't scoring enough and getting people involved

Give everyone the damn ball. Just move and move the damn ball. With the current offense it does not matter who has the ball more.

Sengun has a turnover rate of 13.8% and kpj 14.6% so far. Both improved from last season. Kpj’s and the team’s main problem is not moving the ball.

I would expect the guy who brings up the ball to have far more time with the ball and dribbles than a center who most of the time catches the ball near a scoring position. That said, in general, I would appreciate more passing.

The problem with KPJ is that he is best, on offense, as an aggressive scorer (or an off-ball shooter). He's probably our best player at those things. Unfortunately, those aren't necessarily the strengths we need from our primary ball-handler; those are the skills we need from a primary or secondary scorer.

We have no one on the team who is even kind of a PG so we shoe-horn KPJ into that role but it's not good for the team and it's not fair to KPJ.

So should Alpi have the ball more? Sure, why the hell not. But do I blame KPJ for playing to his strengths? Not really. I don't think we should view this as a push-and-pull between the two.

It shouldn't be if we had a coach who could create a Webber/Divac and Bibby type system that actually plays to the respective players' strengths.

We gotta stop blaming KPJ for Jalen and Jabari’s struggles. They’re missing open shots and aren’t taking advantage of one on one situation.

This is exactly why Jabari, Green and Alpi are all struggling. Silas is coaching like he knows he's not going to get fired. If he was, Alpi would be playing a lot more. Not saying the Rockets would be much better, but thats an easier avenue to Ws than whatever is going on with KPj.

Agree with this but to add - we have no offense to run really so even a Point God like Chris Paul wouldn't change anything here because the offense is not plays but a system of "give a creator like Luka or Harden the ball and let them exploit defenses and find open men". KPJ is the best offensive player on this roster right now so by default he is the guy being asked to be in the Luka/Harden role(and taking the blame from less observant fans) but the problem is our coach shouldn't ask young developing players to conform to a system they aren't capable of playing. If you are a system coach like D'Antoni - good for you...then find a team that you can implement that system. I get why Silas was the guy they brought in for Harden - makes sense.... but that Harden led roster doesn't exist anymore and if Silas continues to stubbornly implement a system that doesn't work for this roster and continues to let the team struggle to get results from poor fit of a system, then we need a different coach.

At some point this WILL impact the development of our players - I see it right now. Green is going to the hole hard trying to force the issue because he knows there is no other alternative to score. He KNOWS there is no one moving off ball he can dump to, he knows there is no wrinkle the defense doesn't already know so like KPJ he is just trying to make anything happen for his team because the "system" doesn't give him any other options. That's not right and it's going to make these players ball dominant iso players in ways that limits our team in the long run and potentially puts a ceiling on their development. Get Silas out of there NOW.

It's impossible for him to get assists with the trash he plays with when he actually gets the ball. How many times has he gotten Nix wide open for three only to watch him miss. Has that dude made 1 three all year? Heck even Jalen Missed a dunk. KPJ blowing layups.. he can only get them the ball. Those guys still have to make the shots..

Than when he has the ball. No one cuts or moves to try to get open. So he just goes 1 on 1 to score in the post. It's soo infuriating to watch this team.
