Last year, David DePape posted links on his Facebook page to multiple videos produced by My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell falsely alleging that the 2020 election was stolen. Other posts included transphobic images and linked to websites claiming Covid-19 vaccines were deadly. “The death rates being promoted are what ever ‘THEY’ want to be promoted as the death rate,” one post read.

DePape also posted links to YouTube videos with titles like “Democrat FARCE Commission to Investigate January 6th Capitol Riot COLLAPSES in Congress!!!”

Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco is full of crime! Non-stop media attention and tweets. This is part of a media and right-wing narrative that is misleading.

Kevin McCarthy's Bakersfield has 2x the homicide rate of San Francisco in 2020. No one knows this though.

Overall, crimes are up in many places (covid), but still well below decades ago.

But there is a large piece of the homicide story that is missing and calls into question the veracity of the right-wing obsession over homicides in Democratic cities: murder rates are far higher in Trump-voting red states than Biden-voting blue states. And sometimes, murder rates are highest in cities with Republican mayors.

Looking at the latest data (Q3 2022), cities such as Austin TX, St. Louis MO, Dallas TX, Jacksonville FL, Phoenix AZ, Seattle WA, Denver CO, Boston MA have a higher per capita homicide rate than San Francisco. If you feel unsafe in SF, you probably should feel unsafe in most places in the US.

As for the statement... "nobody should have to have security to be safe in their home" - yea, that should be the case. And for the most part, it is the case. But the US is no Japan.
