Its like we have the value bin McHale and Harden in Silas and KPJ.... I'm cool with it because it looks like they are running the tank back for one more year. Hopefully Silas does not ruin any of our young talent with his terrible coaching and decision making. I wouldn't be surprised thou if someone requests trade before the tank even ends....

I don't buy that too young to run an offense line. Look at some of the best programs in college basketball. They run offenses with complexity - off-the-ball screens, motion, other actions, and such - and they are younger than the Rocket's players. Now I could see if he was coaching a bunch of 6-year olds, then that line would hold more water but not in this case,

    Coaching.

This year looks a lot like last year in the sense that I don't see this team developing an identity. It's all immediate tactics but no long-term strategy.

Silas coach nothing. What do you execute?

Rocket's don't seem to play team-ball but something more like me-ball. They play It's-all-about-me-ball.

This is a quote from a Dreamshake article by Xiane (https://www.thedreamshake.com/2022/10/27/23427127/five-out-mostly-rockets):

"I heard on a podcast that Seven Seconds or Less Phoenix disciples David Griffin and Willie Green practice running the Pelicans offense on a 16 second shot clock. It forces the team into early offense, discourages pounding the ball.

"I would truly love to see the Rockets doing this, as the Pelicans are a really good team this year, and as much as it pains me to say it, fun to watch."

Thought this was a great idea.

It all starts at the top and cascades down.
Ownership lost their head coach because they bickered with him over a few million dollars and made his life a living hell.

Ownership lose their best players because ownership wouldn’t go into the luxury tax or sign their head coach.

Ownership lost their GM because they wouldn’t spend or provide a good work environment.

Ownership makes a shocking GM choice because owner liked him and he helped save him money on the purchase of the team.

New GM is left picking through bottom coaching candidates because of ineptness of ownership.

Ownership hires a rookie coach who has little say in his coaching staff.

Rookie coach isn’t a good head coach and team continues to not be crisp running plays or disciplined on the court.

Reports surface Rockets have bad chemistry guys. Rockets trade one for almost nothing and extend the other one.

Team headed back to lottery while GM and HC will think of new excuses while owner is on his yacht and ruining other peoples lives.

Wont be long before GM will throw HC under the bus and eventually Owner will throw GM under the bus.

I will not sit here and tolerate Fertita bashing.

I think you need to shut up and listen, because the person who talks the loudest is the rightest.

Also black t-shirts under blazers is fine.

Not sure KPj would allow this.

If it's the choice between coaching and execution, I'd say execution. But really, it's more about personnel.

Short term, the team has a big hole in the middle right now because both their centers are out, their nominal third-string center Boban is being used as a prop. I'd say human victory cigar but there's only been one win.

By default, they're playing a 19-year-old thin rookie in the middle. Right now, he often looks to me like Christian Wood with better defense and team awareness, but worse shooting, so the team is basically back to performing like how they did last season.

Long term, the Rockets don't have enough after their starting lineup even when healthy. And their starters show potential, but they're young and inexperienced.

Still, I'm enjoying the "process" more than I'd expected.

Executing the coach is never the answer.

It's both. Silas does need to step down immediately. He's clueless. It's clear he's not ready to be a head coach. Stone must stay. The ownership must back him.

I'm starting to wonder if it's like half tanking/half letting the kids flounder around and get sick of faillng... half more tanking.

Shades of last year's start, though I'm not trying to catastophize because we're 1-3... Just the similarity in the very relaxed approach to making changes makes me wonder.

We're trying to win, and all, just not too hard (?)

A theory that folks pushed that seems likely is Tilman being the cheapskate he is, hired silas cause he was cheap. Granted that the contract of a coach isn't proportional to his coaching abilities, but usually you get what you paid for.

We went cheap for a coach, so shouldn't b too surprised at the results.

They are mutually exclusive . You can be the best coach in the world if the players don’t respect you to execute you’re game plan it’s all a waste of time. Unfortunately Silas stinks as a coach and the players don’t seem to fear or atleast respect him. One could say they probably are executing his ISO garbage heavy game plan but it’s just he sucks as a in game coach

sadly the problems are to many to count
