Yeah, we may regret this, but YOLO, right? Carpe diem! The world may end tomorrow, and if we can haggle over easily misinterpreted numbers today, I think we should. May change my username to Marvin Haggler.
LOL I honestly wouldnt have it any other way. Watching the boomers and gatekeepers here lose their sht over 4 game stat periods is why I log on!
Here is a helpful checklist -- I would like us all to make sure we include as many of these as possible, whenever we can: What are the common statistical mistakes? Absence of an adequate control condition/group Interpreting comparisons between two effects without directly comparing them Spurious correlations Inflating the units of analysis Correlation and causation Use of small samples Circular analysis Flexibility of analysis Failing to correct for multiple comparisons Over-interpreting non-significant results https://www.stuartmcnaylor.com/ten_stats_mistakes/
In order for Jalen Green to take the next step offensively, he has to work on getting to the free throw line. He’s only averaging 3.5 free throw attempts per game. And that’s the same number he averaged last season. Right now, he’s averaging a TS% of 58%.. which is good, but the shine comes off a bit when you realize he’s shooting 48% from 3, which isn’t sustainable. In order to keep his TS% around 60%, which is where all of the elite scorers are, he has to increase his free throw attempts to at least 6 or 7 per game. Right now, he’s nowhere close to that.
This isn't meant as criticism, but as the Rockets identity matures, a few things need to change. -25th in steals (6/GM) -26th in assists (20/GM) -27th in FG% (42.8%)
Players last season to Be 6'4+, Avg 6+ assists, shoot 35+% from 3 LeBron James Kevin Durant Luka Doncic LaMelo Ball Kevin Porter Jr. Tyrese Haliburton
While we're at it do you think we could violate every single logical fallacy at the same time!? I dont know why, but I think we can do it!
THIS is the toxic optimism that gets me out of bed each morning! Thank you sir for bringing levity to a forsaken space of curmudgeons! You are the real hero! By the way this thread will become very useful in a few weeks and will probably get bumped into eternity. Congrats!
Someone recently recommended this site to me, but I have not spent any time here https://the-high-low.com/ edit - It seems amazing. Something the more sophisticated posters might enjoy @durvasa @aelliott @jordnnnn
