I hate starting new threads and try to renew olds ones if i can. I renewed this because of the situation developing nw with the Rox situation. The quoted poster talks about him taking too many 3's, but if the guy shoots 44% from the arc, whats the problem? I mean lets put this in perspective. After Ford went down and Jones started, he avg 7.7 ppg,7.6 asst, shot 42.5fg and 44.9% from the arc and avg 1.8 to's a game. Against one of the better defensive teams, the pistons, he avg 10ppg,7.4 asst, 52.9fg% and 47.6 from 3 with 1.8 to a game. I'm not saying break the bank for the guy and neither am i saying i would like to have Barry, but i think if Barry doesn't go to SA, he resigns with Seattle. Picture Jones staring and playing 30 mins a night and offering up 10ppg and 7asst while to's the ball less than 2 a game. Combine that with 5 from Mcgrady and you have a backcourt avg about 12asst and 4.5 to's. Off the bench Lue gives you 6-8ppg with 3asst and 1 to's. Compare that to last season's backcourt and this tem already has more shot attempts per game and scoring more points. The good thing is that Jones is 27 going on 28 and a deal of about 4yrs at about 3.5per would get it. After the season when Lue is a free agent, Gaines can be worked in as a backup. By the time Jones contract is up, hopefully a 27 yr old Gaines will be ready to run the team and the express keeps moving. If you get Barry, you're looking at a guy who's lready had injury problems looking at 36 yrs of age and making close to 6mill per.
For the season as a whole, Jones shoot only .401 FG and .359 from 3 pt range. Not that bad, but definitely not great by any means. I was lurking on a Bucks board, and a lot of Bucks fans were calling for Brevin Knight to start over Jones.
Aside from that, the Bucks were a runnign team and had tons of shooters. His only succesful season was with them under that system. I'd be ok with a two year deal, not more than 2M per season. I'd be perfectly fine with that. Nothing more though. There are trade options better than that.
So doesn't a running team suppose to turn the ball over more? I guess you didn't look at the playoffs when he shot over 50%fg ,47% 3 , 7asst to 1.8 to against the might Detroit defense.
Not much difference between Lue and Damon Jones. Jones has a little better A/T ratio. Lue - http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3266/career Jones - http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3322/career If Barry goes somewhere else I wouldn't mind signing him to a 2 year $3M deal. Team option on the second year. Then let Lue and Jones duke it out all year for playing time between eachother.
