A healthy McDyess would be a perfect fit at PF. He would bring exactly what we need every night and would be an excellent compliment to Yao. However, if this has any chance of happening something needs to happen soon. Adding McDyess to our current roster obviously makes no sense since it would give us 4 PF's. We all know CD is currently doing everything in his power to move either Taylor or Howard (preferably Taylor) so a move like signing McDyess could be possible and to rid the roster of one of its two Michigan scumbag, overpaid PF's. Unfortunately, the clock is working against us though. Pleny of teams are interested in McDyess and although he has stated how he would love to play in Houston, he must out of his own best interest look into other more realistic options.

we should take this summer one step at a time.

first came the trade. now lets put all of our speculation into the PG hunt. after we sign a PG we can focus on finding a bigman.

We need to trade Howard or MoT to the Sonics in exchange for Calvin Booth and a future pick. Then pickup McDyess.

    Yao/Booth
    McDYess/MoT/Spoon
    JJ/Boki/AG
    T-Mac/Barry/Pike
    Barry/Lue/Wilks

Keon Clark would be nice too. McDyess would come cheaper. His agent is saying 3 years, but no one in the league will give him 3 guaranteed years.

You'd need to get a whole lot more for either than Booth.

Are you joking, or have you actually heard something? I was under the sad impression that he is pretty much untradable. I guess we could try to get another horrid contract for him. Back up center? That guy would no doubt suck as well.

it will be hard to find a taker, but when there is a will there is a way.

i belive JVG wants him gone before the season starts.

lets not forget that mo is a good player, he is just overpaid. we could trade him for another overpaid player at a position we need.

I say we give McDyess a shot. There's not much downside to giving McDyess a 1 or 2 year veteran minimum deal and see what he can do. He's obviously got the pedigree, but injuries have ravaged his once-promising career. If he plays balls out with a chip on his shoulder, then we've just made the steal of free agency. If he stinks, then we've lost very little.

I'd love for the Rocks to go after McDyess as long as he comes cheap. A 3 year deal is to much considering we don't know how much he is recovered from that knee injury. A 1 or 2 year deal on the cheap would be solid. And the upside on McDyess if he's healthy and productive is enormous. A renewed McDyess/Yao frontline would be awesome!

    I completely agree.

Id do a 2 year deal with a 3rd year team option.

Like you said, if hes healthy (and thats a HUGE if), then this could be a steal and McDyess could hold down the PF spot for the next 5 years at least (hes only 29 ;)).

Its been a while since Ive seen McDyess play ..........can he hit the outside J??

Even if he wanted a 4-year deal, what's the big deal when the going rate is about 1.6 million a year. That's half of Pike's salary.

I saw a pretty recent clip of him in a suns uniform on epsn news. Saying a couple teams were intrested in him. The clip showed him blocking some guys shot, this wasnt a lucky block or strip, somebody tried to float it in and he jumped right up and swatted it. It looks like he has some explosiveness back and he did have a pretty decent average the last couple games of the season.

If he could be had for the million dollar exception then that would be great.
