I hope the rules changes will have the same effect in the real NBA. I love seeing scores like 111-100, and that's only in 40 minutes of playing time. Does anybody else like these rule changes? ------------------
If they bring more scoring, I like them. ------------------ This is our FRANCHISE and these are the RULES - Learn it, Live it, Love it!
I'll let you know when I see them in legit NBA games and not pickup games with Farmer Bill from the Nantucket ChickenLivers starting at PG. ------------------ "I'll tell you this, the older I get, the less I trust people. It's true. It's damn true." -- gr8-1 going through some growing pains.
I think a guy named Farmer Bill was a backup SG for the Rockets back in the mid 80's...anyways... Many people seem to think that the NBA instituted the zone to increase scoring, which is not the case...NBA teams had no trouble putting up 110 ppg 15 years ago...The style of play has changed drastically in the past decade. Previously, the main mindset around the league was to push the ball up the court, and if there isn't a fast break opportunity, then set up an offense. Now, teams generally break only on long rebounds. Plus, there aren't as many quality centers and power forwards that can make the precise outlet pass anymore after getting a rebound... Oh yeah, and nobody can shoot anymore...THAT might have something to do with low scoring. The NBA instituted a zone to eliminate the persistent isolation plays, of which Houston runs a lot. Hopefully, with the increase in jump shots that zones will create, the league is hoping that players will practice the jumper a little more and worry less about getting to the basket on every posession. I seriously doubt that a zone will have that big of an impact on overall scoring. The game is still 48 minutes long, and the shot clock is still 24 seconds, so shot attempts shouldn't get any lower. Plus, the increase in jumpers will lead to more long rebounds, thus creating more fast break opportunities. I don't think we'll see that many 115-110 games with the zone, but it might eliminate those horrible 75-73 games that seem to pop up more often that we'd like ------------------ Mein bratwurst has a first name, it's F-R-I-T-Z Mein bratwurst has a second name, it's S-C-H-N-A-C-K-E-N-P-F-E-F-F-E-R-H-A-U-S-E-N [This message has been edited by A-Train (edited July 17, 2001).]
Oh yeah, and nobody can shoot anymore Myth.... These control freak coaches are the ones responsible for the low scoring. ------------------ Endtroduction..........
I do believe that if ISO's are reduced, then scoring will bump up a little. Might not be too significant, but it will reduce the # of time-consuming isolations and increase the chance of a relatively quick jumper. ------------------ Clutchcity.net... source for all your Rockets, Astros, political, music, humor, and Gordita news.
Indiana and San Antonio played a 65-61 thriller. ------------------ It was the time of the preacher, in the year of '01 Now the preachin' is over, and the lessons begun . . .
Haha I think the high scoring has more to do with most of these guys are young and haven't developed much "D", and in the Indy-Sac game's case Shooting. ------------------ The title will come to ClutchCity once again.
You've obviously jinxed them, since I'm watching two teams struggle to get to 50pts by the 4th quarter. ------------------ It was the time of the preacher, in the year of '01 Now the preachin' is over, and the lessons begun . . .
