I'm just so behind...my son is 3. And I think @bobrek is not that much older than I am.

My wife was 18 when she had our daughter. Our daughter was 18 when she had our granddaughter. We were grandparents at 36.

At least they were 'legal'. How crazy is it that there are great-grandparents out there under 50?

Pretty cool. In hindsight, I sometimes think I could have handled our kids better when I still had more energy myself lol. I'm a really old dad. On the other hand, I did most of my world travel before getting married and having kids.

Really looking forward to seeing your photos from Africa. Doing a real safari is still on my bucket list.

Had to cancel Namibia this summer due to family health trouble, but I did Tanzania last year--Kilimanjaro, safaris, and Zanzibar. Four days of safari. One in Tarangire, which is elephant central. One in Ngorongoro Crater, probably the most amazing geographical location I've ever been, and two in the Serengeti. Saw almost everything I wanted to see--including a black rhino. Missed out on seeing a cheetah and a kill.

    Safari is better than advertised.

Finally heading home tomorrow. We had 12 game drives split between Mashatu camp in Botswana and MalaMala Camp in South Africa. Spent time in Capetown and did kayaking at Boulder Beach where the penguins are.

Tracked leopards and lions at night. Saw a 3 or so hours old elephant learning to walk and saw him the next day learning to walk out of a river bed.
