Rox should get Stromile Swift with Midlevel exception. He cost about only $5mil I think he's a perfect complement to Yao inside game just like Cato did.

Cato was a terrible complement to Yao. He's tough (sort of). But whoever partners Yao *must* have a midrange jump shot to prevent the soft double from the opposing 4.

Swift does not have a good jump shot. Therefore - bad idea.

Also, Swift, imo, is even less impressive than Cato. More athletic, but no idea how to use his body.

Swift would be a great fit. If we could get him for the full MLE, it would be a complete steal.

But what makes you think Memphis won't match?

Memphis isn't going to let him go, but he is the type of 4 that Yao needs next to him. A quick, mobile, active power forward that blocks shots and chase down rebounds that Yao can't get to due to his lack of mobility.

Battie would also be an ideal 4 next to Yao.

Stromile Swift does have a jumpshot! He was a three point shooter in college to go along with his athletic ability! He's a better version of Eddie Griffin. And would be a perfect fit for our system!

I never thought I would say this, but I'd rather pry Chris Wilcox away from the Clips than entice Stromile Swift from the Grizz.

I like Swift. He would definately be an asset. He probably wants to play some place where he can get more minutes. The Grizz reduced his role last year.

Reason you don't hear any speculation about this guy is that Memphis has let it be known they'll match any offer made to him. MLE won't be enough to pry him away so it would just be a waste of time.

I would take either Wilcox or Swift, both young players who will only get better.

we should do it anyway, along the way adding some crazy incentives like if he averages 10 ppg for the season, he gets an extra mill, if they make the playoffs, he gets another mill, if they win 50 games, another mill. just to stick it to them for the Posey deal.:D

Stromile Swift was NOT a 3 point shooter in college. The guy was a terror around the basket in college. Anyways, his jumpshot is 10 times better than Cato. He's not Mo Taylor, but he is far from terrible with the J.

The Rockets should field a team of T-mac, Yao, and 10 power forwards.

Unless you can find someone to take a couple of our over priced 4's off our hands, you can forget bringing in any more. We already have 4 on the roster.

I'd prefer swift because they took Posey from us. It would be like Sweet revenge! bastards

West has made it known he wants to keep Swift. The Lakers have been trying to get him for years.

No one will get anything over West. He's the best in the business. If he let go of Swift, I'd be worried about getting him.

Trouble is, if the Grizzlies take the full 15 days then match, we're screwed.

Otherwise, he'd be an amazing addition. Can score, can defend, can rebound. He can backup the 5 for 15 minutes, and play any other minutes at PF that we create for him.

He could stand to add a bit of strength, but he's not that bad really. He's a tough guy.

Any Grizzlies fan know if they would match the full MLE for 6 years?

Anyone who's tall, athletic, a shotblocker, a rebounder, and can score at a good % is worth more than that. The full MLE is just 5M.

Are the Grizzlies ready to go into the next season with the exact same team? because if they use the full MLE to match us, they have ntohign else to offer FA's. They'd have to begin looking at trades.

    Yeah, Jerry West is briilliant.

Trading away Eddie Jones and Elden Cambell for Glen Rice (2 year rental) and a bag of peanuts.

Trading Nick Van Exel to Denver for basically nothing.

It's hard to argue with 3 straight championships. But I think there road at the very least, would have been easier if they had kept the core together.

These trades made perfect sense. Kobe would never prosper as long as Eddie Jones is there, and Rice gave them the outside threat they needed. NVE was the Lakers version of Steve Francis, the combo guard who can't share the ball. It was even worse with NVE, because he froze out TWO stars.
