Okay, so let's deal him to Sacramento for Bobby Jax. I'll take that. We could even let BJ start with TMac then.

We could dub them the MJ's.

    McGrady
    Ming
    Juwan
    JJ
    BJ

True, but there are several teams under the cap or with a TE to assist so its not like the Rockets are the only deal in town. We can't bend them over too far or another team will jump in.

After next year the Cavs would have Boozer's Bird rights (I think). Thus they could go over the cap to resign him and match any offer. The Rockets must not have had a 3rd year option on Mobley? This situation is very similar to Mobley's.

You can not sign any offer sheet until July 15, so Cavs still have plenty of time to work something out.

As much as I wish this were true, the Jazz buy into Sloan's program so well that even with substandard talent they compete every year. Sloan made immortals like Shandon Anderson and Greg Ostertag into servicible players. They will contend for a playoff spot.

However, I don't think these two players are the big difference makers that a lot of other people think they are. They put up decent numbers (Boozer's rebounding figures were admittedly excellent) in the Eastern Conference, and Okur played on the best team. Not exactly a lot of great front courts out there. They will still get roughed up inside because they have some defensive problems. Okur's closer to Tom Chambers than Robert Parish at center and Boozer is a bit short. They won't be able to handle Yao, and their guards can be beated off the dribble. We'll match-up fine with them.

Plus the Cavs 1st pick next year for our second rounder next year. The T-E cannot be traded by itself but can be paired with a draft pick which has zero value. I believe I am quoting Gater correctly.

McInnis is the player I want. TE for McInnis and Diop clears over $6 million for the Cavs, gives us a starting PG and backup C. I'd even through in a first round pick to get McInnis. If this trade went through, our offseason would be done.

ROTFLOL. In the hotly contested battle for "NBA Moron GM of the Year", we now have a NEW frontrunner:

    Paxson: New Hotness
    Weisbrod: Old and Busted

McInnis yes, Diop nope. Diop is Amaechi's basketball son.

I calculate the Cavs will need to be 8.6M under the cap to match the Utah offer. 8.6M at 12.5% raises for 6 years is 67.72M. If we take Battie that is 8.6M - 4.8M = 3.8M left, so this could work out perfect for the Cavs (not mention the Rockets). :D

They were smarter than you thought. As far as I undersand, they constructed the contract in a special way to make it extremely hard to match. In stead of raising the salary each year, they will give the max the very first season, which is around 11-12 mil ( you dont know until the cap comes out next week ).

I thought you can only use the TE for only player, not multiple like some of you are implying?

The way I understand it is that you can brake the trade exception up. I'm not sure but I think you could send a second round pick plus 2 million of the trade exception to a team for a player and still have 4.9 million left. If this is true then I would think you could use the trade exception on multiple players.

By the way, the player that enterests me from the cavs is Kedrick Brown. He is just 23 and has talent. Package him along with Battie and we might have something.

Let's just admit it. Nobody understands any of the salary cap/cba rules. You're better off using your brain cells to save the human race.

They have too many brain cells and have to use them before it oozes out and creates a big mess on the carpet.
