Game went about how I expect many of our games to go. Oh well. It was nice to watch Rockets basketball again.

I'm surprised so little is said about the overall backcourt defense, I honestly think the Rockets, and particularly the Rockets backcourt, played as good a defense as you can get on Murray + Young. The Rockets issue tonight were the bigs were scoring way too easily in the interior, but the overall defensive focus is significantly improved.

Young guys need structure and more/better set plays. The 4 out / 5 out system, works well if the penetrator is an uber penetrator, PnR, and can get the dimes out appropriately.

I see the Hawks defenders just line up around the perimeter with each of our guys. Yes there's space, but if the guy penetrating fails his basket, can't score over Hawks' tall guys, (or didn't get a call), or bad at passing out (picked off). It means the system is imperfect. If our guys don't cut, lack motion, the 4 out/5 out offense becomes instantly predictable. Even the Harden 5-out system runs into trouble in the playoffs. We see a poor version of this here in the season opener.

It can work if you have the personnel, but our guys haven't grown in to that yet.

Is Atkinson and Snyder still available, is Silas molding his player to his system or should he actually try to fit a system to fit our guys' strengths.

If Green and Smith are setup properly, maybe their FG% would be better/

Silas is an offseason loving fatherly coach. He is not an actual NBA caliber head coach I really wish more people would see that lol He's a glorified baby sitter, you are expecting too much.

I thought they played well in stretches on the offensive end and defensive end. They made a lot of mistakes that young teams are going to make. I thought Jabari and Eason had good debuts. I thought Eason was taken off to early after his first stint. Jabari showed he can guard any position. I think this team can be a good defensive team in the future.

Green is extremely quick, can loose defenders of ball, has a difficult to block quick jumper and not one play ran for Green to curl off ball for a catch and shoot attempt.

Go to 1:11. That ended up being a contested difficult jumper but it shows you the top off off ball shooter Green can be. Guys like Kobe and Jordan ran these.typrmof off ball plays all the time.

Maybe because we were down double digits with them in the game and the random bench unit brought us back...

They did have the worst +\- on the team today.

Anyways there were were like 2 highlight plays Green botched that I think after first game jitters will not botch in the future. The first was the hard slam attempt and the other was that double clutch dunk to lay up attempt. But it just shows how every game this guy's is going to have 2-3 top 10 plays of the week level plays per game it seems like. Every time I see Jalen get in that paint area with some space and one defender in front of him I'm bracing for something special. This is just the first game. He's going to do some amazing things this year.

That guy will be a double double machine for a decade. Once he starts playing 32-34min a game (whenever that comes) it would likely be difficult for him not to get 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Lots of people are confused by the rotations.

You guys do realize Jabari Smith missed almost all of preseason, Gordon missed half of it, Nix injured, etc.

The rotations aren't going to be the same because the players aren't the same

Even with the sloppy turnovers if we hit our threes at a normal pace we win.
