Yeah I read it on ESPN too but everything I read prior to this seemed to indicate that he is a restricted FA. I still hope he is cause we could get a really good deal out of this mess.

NIKEstrad clarified this in the other thread. Restricted, otherwise it would not be an offer sheet, I think.

Different question, whatever happened to that moratorium??? Obviously doesn't stop people from signing offer sheets?

The option was to extend the contract. The fact that they did not pick it up does not mean he is unrestricted.

Paxon is a GM who has one luck with the pingpong ball and he has no other talent at all. Wonder how he got the GM job.

If he really knows a thing or bit about the cap situation around teams, he should know that lots of teams have tons to money to throw at FA market. He should definitely hesitate not to pick up Boozer's option.

If all this plays out and Cleveland does lose Boozer, then they may feel the need for a PF, perhaps MoT or J-Howard. We might be able to get Battie or Diop and maybe even Wagner. Heck, I need to look at their roster more closely.

Hottoddie will be having a hot time tonight.:D

Karma is a mutha****a...remember that...I will throw down the guantlet...the Utah Jazz will be one of the three worst teams in the Western Conference and won't even sniff the playoffs.

Isn't that what people said last season? As long as they have Sloan and AK-47 they'll be in contention, this deal just made them stronger.

Seriously, Paxon has to do it to save his back. Let's face it, the guy does not have the talent to be a GM.

it's Paxson's fault for thinking that Boozer might not ever wise up that he would have gotten lowballed if he signed for 5 mil a year.

it's also Paxson's fault for thinking that no other team would make a run at Boozer when they freed him into the FA market.

Boozer made a semi-promise, but how would YOU react?

"Man I made a promise to Paxson to sign on for 5.5 mil a year...but ELEVEN MILLION a year? Either someone is overpaying me or someone is lowballing AND underpaying me...I rather go with the former"

I hope CD can work this out and get us Battie. He is the exact type of player we need.

If somehow this does work and we do a deal with the Cavs, won't it be great that we were able to help take away such a good player away from the Jazz. That in itself is worth it.

Last year was a suprise but things happen (like the 41-41 Orlando Magic before T Mac) but rarely does lightning strike twice in the same place and it won't be so care free when they are expected to make the playoffs. Not one of those players has any experience with pressure. That team is not a good mix and unlike last year they are getting paid. When they add in AK47s max contract, this will be one of the most overpaid rosters in the NBA.

Boozer is a good story making the minimum but at that salary he is supposed to be at All Star level. In the West he is not anywhere near All Star level IMO.

That tells you how much better their GM and coach are than nearly 90% of the GMs and Coachs in the league. There is a reason why teams can't contend (Cleveland, Washington etc). It's because their organization sucks.

Not as long as Sloan is their coach and they have Kirilenko and Boozer.
