I figure we need a bat in this series. It is too late to wait for Mancini to get it together.

not really. Diaz isn't an everyday DH, so Mancini will slot back in that spot unless Diaz just goes nuts tonight

Mancini has had big moments since joining but overall he's been a disappointment

    Diaz is the better hitter/player

Mostly, those teams over bought and couldn't sustain. That's the thing about baseball. Any team can overpay for a year or two for a short window then blow it up.

I expected more from Mancini too but at this point Diaz still hasn't done enough to be the everyday DH. his play did drop off after his injury so part of that is to blame going to the IL. at this point having both alternate is a good problem to have to me. both have the ability to contribute at the plate

    Decent take

    Explain how each team over-bought

Astros had experience on their side

    Yeah agreed

Good having these problems. Viable interchangeable players

Days end.. we have 5+ other better hitters and those will most likely determine the outcome of the series

I think Hensley and Diaz need more time at the dish. They get quality ABs from all I've seen. Make the pitchers work get deeper into the bull pen and pass the game along to the big bats. Trey can pinch hit if the moment is right, if he gets that stink off him on a pinch hit then maybe a DH day next time.

I really, really strongly want the Astros to win this series, more than usual, given the Yankees organization, fans, and the media bias that supports them seemingly needing to hold onto the belief that they would have won a World Series if not for the Astros cheating scandal. Failure is not an option.

This is a legacy series. Win against Yankees and we strike them out in the ALCS. They will wear 0-3 when it matters most.

We advance and win the World Series, we legitimize this Astros team as a dynasty.

The bottom of our batting order really concerns me; can't keep ringing up zeros. Ha, like the top of the order!

I think Mancini is gonna have a big moment in the ALCS. He should have plenty of AB’s against the Yankees staff still fresh on his mind.

Smack Taillon out early and strike fear into the hearts of the Yankees pen in GM1

The key to shutting Altuve down is hitting one of his down streaks. He has always been streaky and he may tear up NYY in the ALCS. Maybe even get his first 5 hit game.

I'm not sure that's an advantage.
